Comments: I was adopted at birth in 1952 and have already found my maternal birth family. Based on information that was on my adoption transaction court records from Massachusetts and what my birth mother was able to give me, his name was John Kendall with no known middle name. He was from Leominster, Mass. and my birth mother thought that he was about 6 - 10 years older than her (making his DOB in the years of 1926 to 1922). They had met while he was at Fort Banks in Winthrop, Mass around Dec. 1949 to Jan. 1950. He was later transferred to Camp Edwards on Cape Cod, Mass. where he stayed for about 1 yr. They had eloped and he got my mother an apartment in New Bedford, Mass. He shipped out to Korea the summer of 1951. He had no idea, we don't think, of my existence. He was about 6 ft. tall, had bright red hair (as both of my sons do) and dark blue eyes (as my oldest son does). He at the time was the rank of Sargent with the U.S. Army. He also had 2 or 3 sons form a prior marriage that would be of course older than me.

I have tried to do extensive research into his units and still have a lot of unanswered questions. I know by some of the documention that he was with the certain units ie.
1 September 1954 I have a letter of appreciation signed by Lt. Gerad T. Frey, 1st Lt Inf, Commanding, G Coompany, 27th infantry Regiment (THE WOLFHOUNDS) APO 25.
I also have a bronze star citation with Letter "V" device from 7 September 1953 that was awarded to him as a PFC, HEADQUARTERS 25TH INFANTRY DIVISION, APO 86, signed by BY COMMAND OF MAJOR GENERAL GINDER: OFFICAL: J D ALGER, Col CS, Chief of Staff, JOSEPH S. Comments: Hello, Does anyone have any information on the 8068th Quartermaster Corps unit assigned to the island of Okinawa during the Korean War ? My father was assigned there from about 1951/52 to 1953.
He never speaks of what his unit did. I only learned the name of his Unit recently. he is still alive and is nearly 77 years old. He is from Long Island, New York and has lived there all his life apart from his time in the Korean Conflict.
He mentioned once a few years ago a fellow army acquaintance from California.
He mentioned working in supply and that his unit was due to ship to Korea in 1953 but that right before his unit was due to ship out the end of the war happened.
He has some old pictures from the base on Okinawa. he saved the old photos .I have always looked at them briefly and then put them away.
If anyone had some family members at the 8068th and if they themselves were with that unit please give me a Holler ! Thanks to all and have a Good Day !

Comments: Co. D, 118 Engr. C Bn., 43rd Inf. Div. I am helping a veteran, Willard Harper, at nursing home where he lives. He showed me a clipping about the sinking of the Argentine ship Maipu while he was on the Gen Hersey, 11-4-51 near Germany. Would appreciate hearing from anyone in his unit or on that ship that day. Thanks.
