LOOKING FOR ERNEST SAMUEL FLOYD

SABRINA HUTCHINGS wrote on October 10, 2012

City and State: MASSAPEQUA PARK NY

Unit: N/A

Comments: Looking for Ernest Samuel Floyd.
Possibly born in 1921, from or living in Virginia at the time.
Possibly 2 sisters, name unknown. Definitely one sister at the very
least.
Served in the Korean War, posted in Trieste. Soldier but exact role
unknown.
Left Trieste in June of 1950 for a 'family emergency'. Possibly false
story, but definitely what was said at the time and he definitely left.
Lost contact after that.
Ida Frassone born in 1925 and originally from Trieste was attached
to him, she is my maternal grandmother. Mr. Floyd proposed
marriage and agreed to marry her, he had the marriage papers on
hand according to my deceased grandmother's account. He gave her
a gold watch, possibly a Walker(?) before leaving for the emergency.
I am looking for information regarding this gentleman and/or his
family.
He may be deceased but he is probably the father of my maternal
aunt, Gabriella. She was born in October 1950 on the 10th and I am
looking for information about her probable family for her birthday.
She merely wants to know the rest of her family. She has tried
looking for the man for many years, with out success.
If you know this gentleman or you're related, please get in contact.
We live on Long Island, New York and our surname is Hutchings.
Gabriella Hutchings is most likely his daughter.
Possibly acquainted with Henry Lewis who also served.

armor officer I believe he was with the 140th medium tank battalion
conducting operations in the Kumsong- Kumhwa sector. I think his
unit was under control of IX or X Corps for most of the war. As such,
the tanks were often attached / detached for various units and
operations. I'm pretty sure he served in support of some ROK
operations. He passed away several years ago and we lost all of his
photos and records. He had a good friend, Stuart Little, an
Australian with the RAA for whom I am named after. I am trying to
find any information regarding his Bn,Co,Plt etc. He was from SC.

Comments: My sister's father-in-law was in the 1123d Area
Service Unit, the 318th Signal Battalion (Corps), and
Tel and TTY Co, 318 Signal Battalion (Corps), CT
Reserve units, from 1950-1955. He has files that
reflect his 1950-1953 reserve service, but his
service records from 1954-1955 were lost in the St
Louis fire that destroyed many service files. I need
to identify/contact the units to retrieve evidence of
his service. On-line unit searches have turned up
nothing. He's elderly, and my sister would like to
ensure his final departure properly recognizes his
military service. Any help out there? Thanks much.
Kurt
