MILITARY RECORDS

Service or Relationship: FAMILY MEMBER

Comments: My Father Richard Glenn Brown was in the 72nd Tank Battalion in Korea from 1951-1953, I hoping to find any and all information about my father. I remember as a little kid back in the late 50 and early 60s he had books almost like year book with pictures of his unit. Im hoping to find military records. Although he never spoke of it I believe he was at Heatbreak Ridge.
When my Father was Discharged he left as a First Sargent and in 1969 he passes away and is buried in Florida in the Veterans Cemetery
Id like to thank all that participate in this to help find answers for the families of Veterans.

Comments: I am looking to find out who my birth father was. My birth mother was a German girl who worked as a housefrau in the army barracks in Goeppingen, Germany in 1953, probably for a few years before that and a couple years after 1953. I was born in February of 1954 to Elisabetha Schulz. She told me that my birth father was an American military man that she had met at a dance and dated for a while. She would not tell me his name or anything else. If you had a relative who was stationed there who might have been from Virginia or Kentucky, please contact me. I have submitted my DNA and it seems to indicate that my birth father was from that area.
Thank you in advance,

SEARCHING FOR INFO ABOUT DAD, RICHARD D. MCDOWELL, DRILL SERGEANT

Comments: Hello! I am searching for information--and any colorful stories, good OR bad--about my father, who was an Army Drill Sergeant and served during the Korean War. He is currently very ill and on oxygen making it very hard for him to speak, so all I know is based on what I can remember from the stories he told me while I was much younger. His full name is Richard David McDowell and he was raised in Shelby County, Tennessee, born around 1937. I know he was stationed in Germany for a while, but I can't tell you exactly WHEN during his stint in the Army. He had black hair, brown eyes, and was an avid smoker. He is not a tall man (around 5'6) but what he lacked in height I'm SURE he made up for it with his temper (said with love), so I imagine there may have been a lot of shouting and veins popping out of his neck from time to time. He also has a wicked sense of humor, is of higher than average intelligence, and enjoys playing chess--so much so he became a chess champion multiple times throughout his life. He married young (and divorced young), his first marriage resulting in my half-sister, named October. (I have no idea if he was in the Service during his first marriage. He met my mother in his late twenties and they will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in just three days!) I would LOVE to know more about my father and his Army days, both good and bad stories...believe me, even if you hated his guts, whatever you've got to tell me won't upset me in the least. I don't know how much time my father has left, and I'd like to know all there is to know. Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions. Thanks very much for your time!

Comments: My dad was a Marine during the Korean War somewhere around 1951-1953. His name is Charles Allen Hobbs, born in 1933. He was tall, 6'3, blonde but mostly bald, big blue eyes, muscular build. He was born in Louisville Kentucky in 1933. He also lived in Ohio and Arizona but lived most of his adult life in California. His father, I think, owned a auto dealership in Flint, Michigan called AL Hobbs Chevorlet. He also attened college at the University of Ohio. Please help me if you can. Thank you from all my heart.
