Comments: As you may already know, the current Army Chief of Staff, GEN George W.
Casey, Jr.,
was born in Sendai, Japan, in July 1948. I am interested in finding out
which unit his father, then LT George W. Casey, Sr., was assigned at that
time. I understand that IX Corps HQs, 1 Cav, and 7th Inf Div were located
in Sendai area during the occupation period. If you have any helpful
information, please send me an email. Thank you very much in advance
for your help.

Comments: I am looking for any information or friends of my father, Donald Scott Burns, who served in the Army Infantry in Korea during most of 1954. As near as I can tell, he had basic training at Ford Ord, Calif. in December of 1953 and was with the 7th Infantry Division, 31st Infantry Regiment, HQ and HQ Company and he was a Light Weapons Specialist. I know he liked to box. He died in the early 1980s, but would not discuss much of his time in Korea. I know that the cease fire had already occurred at this point, but I understand that combat was still occurring off and on in spite of this. True or not? Anyone with info please contact me.

Comments: I was briefly assigned to the 7th Division Finance Office in August 1954 before going home on hardship leave due to the death of my father. The 7th Div Finance Office was located in a camp on a road that ran through a nearby mountain tunnel. I had previously been assigned to the 2nd Division Finance just a mile or two north of this camp. Was the 7th Division Finance located at Camp Casey at that time or was it at another camp? I am trying to find out exactly where I was in Korea at the time. Previously I was with 2nd Div Finance at the 2nd Division Replacement company at 2nd Division Headquarters Rear but don't know where that was either. Thanks to anyone who can help me locate where I was in Korea.

The Chinese had written a letter and placed it on a staub driven into the ground which stated that they would allow us to retrieve our dead and not fire on us. What a relief as the whole patrol was sitting ducks. Anyone out there remember.

I wish that I had sat and watched the program with him when he asked. I was always too busy and promised that I would soon. Well, it's too late now and sadly I want his life story to be told. I am interested in his involvement in the intervention campaign against the Chinese Communist Forces. He also was WIA in Jan. 1951 due to severe frostbite on both feet. I hope that anybody who has a chance to listen to a veterans account about his life would take that opportunity for you will learn a great deal more than reading from a book.
