Comments: George A. Simms fought in Korean War from 8/50 - 9/51. In HQ company of the 3rd Battalion, 5th Regiment of the 1st Calvary Division.
Please contact if you served with dad. He's still living and anxious to renew acquaintances with former friends.
We are blessed to have hundreds of pictures he took during his military career. He was in Okinawa during 1949 and 1950. We also have letters my dad wrote to his parents while in Korea. It's a fascinating history that was sitting in a box for 60 years before we discovered its existence. Dad had always refused to talk about his time in Korea. This year we discovered this box of history. Now he's full of stories when shown a picture he took.
He recently told me about being one of nine men pulled out of a company formation behind enemy lines and being given a medal Sigmon Rhee (South Korean president during war) personally pinned on him.
He received 5 bronze stars, which is 1 silver. Dad was wounded but the medics didn't report it as it was during combat so he's never received his purple heart. Anyone remember this?

Comments: I am searching for anyone who might have been stationed at Fort Lee or Camp Lee during the first 3 or 4 months of 1951 in Prince George Virginia outside of Petersburg. I am looking for a gentleman whose last name may be Barden or Bardeen, Cason, Holladay or Davis. They would have known my mother, Vivian Laverne Tipton Thompson and would have probably met her at the NCO Club at Camp Lee. My mother and her twin sister, Virginia Tipton, loved to go to the NCO Club and dance. Their birthdays were March 22, 1925. I would love to hear from anyone who may have known my mother or aunt.

Comments: My father-in-law served in the US Army from 1952-1953. His name is Raul A. Gutierrez. He was inducted in Texas and stationed at Camp Crawford, Hokkiado, Japan. We think he was with the engineers, but are not certain.

Since his records were destroyed in the 1973 fire at the National Personnel Records Center, he cannot prove that he served. Without proof of service he cannot get VA benefits nor can he be buried at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.

Can anyone offer any help or advice to find such proof??

Comments: Our family has been very fortunate in finding out recently that the remains of our Uncle, Cpl. Clem Robert Boody, of Iowa have been positively identified.
I am wondering if anyone might have served with him or remember him prior to the battle at Unsan? He was listed as MIA 02 November 1950 and later declared dead 31 December 1953. I have seen another returnee's remembrance of possibly "sighting" a Robert Booty (pretty close) as a POW and we are attempting to find out if in fact our Uncle was ever held as a POW after 02 November 1950, or if anyone who returned from this battle perhaps remembers serving with Clem?
IF YOU ARE LOOKING AROUND THIS SITE...YOU POSSIBLY HAVE A MISSING FAMILY MEMBER. Please contact the appropriate branch of military service for information on the DNA/repatriation project ongoing at the Central Identification lab in Hawaii. There are over 800 unidentified remains located in The National Cemetery (better known as the punchbowl) many more still on foreign soil and not yet home. Our family's recent notification is proof positive that even after 57 years, it is not "too late" to continue the quest... having surviving family members CONTRIBUTE DNA IS AN IMPORTANT STEP IN MAYBE BRINGING YOUR SOLDIER HOME!

"unending courage" during what is describe as "bitter fighting". The

sometimes smoked a pipe and I'm sure cigarettes. On the press release
I have it says he was with 7th calvery 2nd battalion the letter head on
the original press release says Headquarters and Headquarters company
2nd battalion 7th calvery APO 201 if that helps at all. His division spent

he learned artic survival and how to fight on skies and snowshoes.

Comments: This is my first try in trying to locate those who I served with in the 15th QM in the Korean War. One is HAROLD BROWN, another was SGT PAPPY with a big beard and moustache. They all liked to play pinochle when not driving the trucks, we would play our wind-up record player in the tent and one guy constantly was singing Hank Snow songs. Another guy was "Englnd" or "English" and I drove truck #83. It would be great to hear from any of you and I would like to have a roster if anyone has one.
