Comments: My uncle, who was more like a brother, was killed in an Army
airplane crash in Atami, Shizuoka-ken, Japan on August 14,
1953. At the time he was Section Chief of the Headquarters
Company Aviation Section, 24th Infantry Division. He is buried
at Little Rock National Cemetery. During the 1930s he often
lived with my family while he served at Fort Lewis,
Washington. When WWII started he left and if there is anyone
still living who knew him, please tell me what you can of him.
Thank you.

Comments: I was stationed at A112 for 13 months November 1965
to December 1966. It was small only 159 total Army
troops and three of us Weather Air Force Airmen. It
was very cold in Winter with lots of snow and
Ice ,but for a couple of months in summer, the
monsoon season brought heat and rain. Our closest
village right outside the base was SIN SAN NEE About
a mile sout was a villsge called Tongo Ri. Just a
few bars and some shops. The people were very poor,
Rice farmers. Not far away was a big statue carved
out of the mountain called a Momaa-san Papa San
holding a baby san. We had several fixed wing
aircraft called Bird Dogs and Beavers Most of our
aircraft was 3 man Helicopters that were used daily
to fly over the DMZ looking for infiltrators. Very
fond memories of the people in the towns.

It would give the family both tremendous pleasure and a sense of peace to connect with someone who was associated with "Bob's" outfit, even if they didn't know each other. It's just the personal connection that the family continues to try and find.

Comments: My father served in the 21st Regiment in 51-52, and was wounded in action. He was sent to a hospital in Japan, then later returned to Korea. When he got back his original unit was turned over to the 40th Infantry Division (California National Guard). Because of this
reassignment, my father never received the purple heart for being wounded in combat from schrapnel. After serving the remainder of his tour he was honorably discharged in California National Guard -40th Infantry Division. He would like to find anyone he served with. He was at the Iron Triangle area in Korea.

Comments: We are working on a film documentary of ND's most decorated soldier, M/Sgt Woodrow Keeble -- also known as Woody or Chief. Big guy, very strong, a member of the Sioux tribe of North/South Dakota.

We are searching for people who served or knew Keeble or have photographs of him. He served in WWII in the South Pacific, starting at Guadalcanal. Re-entered service in 1950 and fought in Korea with Co. G, 19th Inf Regt, 24th ID. Led 1st Platoon in Operation Nomad. Silver Star at Hill 585, on or about Oct 15-18, 1951. Distinguished Service Cross on Oct 20, 1951 at Hill 770 for leading 3 platoons, then single-handedly taking out three pillboxes on above hillside. Mst Sgt Keeble was twice recommended for the MOH for this action, but the paperwork was twice lost.

The family continues to seek this honor for him. Please, if you have any information, contact me.
