By Sean J. Flynn, Ph.D.
In addition to service in World War II and
Vietnam, Flynn flew 62 combat missions in Korea
with the night fighters of VMF(N)-513. He was
shot down and captured by the Chinese in May
1952 and held as a POW until repatriation in
September 1953. Much of my book, which profited
greatly from interviews with Korean War vets
describes Marine Air interdiction operations in
North Korea and life in Chinese POW camps.
The book includes photos from Marine airfields
in South Korea and Flynn's pencil-drawing
depictions of POW internment at Pike's Peak and
at two POW camps on the Yalu River.
