Archie T. Miller

A new book by the author of "Sea
Stories".

It is 1950. World War II is over, the
nation is at peace and the US armed
forces are drastically cut back.

The new, bomber-centered, nuclear-armed
Air Force is now king and the Army, and
especially the Navy, are cut to the
bone.

Unexpectedly, the US is drawn into a war
in Korea, a totally unplanned for
military crisis.

In USS Percival(DDE-452) steaming north
from Hong Kong on the first day of the
war, Lt. j.g. David Hutch Hutcheson
wonders whether the few, undermanned, under-
supplied US Navy Pacific Fleet
ships can meet the challenge.

Percival and Hutch are plunged into the
fray,escorting aircraft carriers,
bombarding Communist strongholds,
blowing up a North Korean torpedo boat
and sinking a Russian submarine.
