Conor Timmis

Narrated by Mark Hamill

Finnigan's War is director Conor Timmis'
dedication to his grandfather as well as all
others who served in the Korean Waralso known
as the Forgotten War. This short documentary,
released last year during the 60th Anniversary
of the war's end, is another attempt to make
sure that we do indeed remember by showing us
what those who fought in this war did.

With that in mind, it does its job admirably
well and allows us a close-up of these brave
soldiers sacrifices as well as the sacrifices
of those around them.

Using a mix of interviews, drawings, and old
footage, Finnigans War helps to put us in the
seat of the action and the humanity involved.

The documentary starts out with Timmis'
grandfather and his actions; it slowly moves
over to other stories from the war. The breadth
of the interviewees is indeed the strength of
this film.

For those who made the ultimate sacrifice, it
talks to the family members left behind, the
many ways in which they are commemorated and
remembered, while going through the story of
their heroics; this is where the drawings come
in handy as an innovative way to visualize
their actions while never wavering in the
intensity of those battles.
