Comments: Several years ago I was trying to find a wounded
soldier I treated during a 14 month tour in which I
sent a few men home in body bags and some home
without limbs and worse yet a couple who's minds saw
to much, and this was a peace time tour!. In the last
4 months I have heard from people from thirty years
ago so this sight does work. IMPORTANT if you are
reading on this site for the first time be aware six
years ago this year the D.O.D changed the status of a
tour in Korea or attached or detached duty (call your
local D.A.V./V.F.W. or American legion for dates and
details)if you meet the requirerment your tour is
concidered a combat zone tour. Unlike on T.V. where
everyone know the war ended like on M.A.S.H. the
ceases fire in korea is the longest ceases fire in
history.Yes, Korea has always been a combat zone even
though the DOD changed it years ago for
political/economic reasons until 6 years ago
correcting a dis-service to all who have served in
Korea.Reguarding the CIB/CMB so far one soldier has
gotten the CIB after over 25 years at the time for
the tree cutting incident at J.S.A,. To quailify
there are strict rules who gets a CIB or CMB badge.
By having the Korean Service Ribbion this give you
concideration as a soldier in a combat zone vs a
peace time tour and this does play out in the end
when applying for benifits the trick is to show a
servcie connect disability to what many of us think
as non-service connect disibilities(service officers
can help you do this) . Check your DD-214 copy 4 and
see if you got a korean Service Ribbion, if you did
not, GET a correction to military record application
any of the vet organizations service reps will help
you with the paper work FREE!if DOD does not find
your time in Korea, YOU are required to prove your
were in korea. Old orders of any kind showing
promotion to discharge will work or other items the
service rep can tell you about these.Hope this helps
some of you any question please give a shout.

Hi everyone.. My name is Elisa, and I'm on the verge
of my 23rd birthday and the only thing I want is to
find a very best friend. I was born at or around Camp
Casey in S Korea in October 1988. I was adopted when
i was five years old but my father Curtis Campbell
(probably a complete blonde tool) left me when I was
around 2 years old. I have some pictures of him and
his friends, but there is only one I am concerned
with. I don't know his name, but I do know he had a
daughter around my age. Her name was Linda, and she's
Korean/ American like I am. I don't know when they
left, but I know she moved to Pennsylvania when we
were around 6 years old. I dont remember much, but I
feel like she or her family could be a really big
puzzle piece in my life. I want to know more about my
childhood but I suppressed everything apparently an
do not remember much. But I do remember that we were
very close; so I assume her dad was a great friend of
mine. If ANYBODY has any information that might help
me, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE email me. Thank you for your
time for reading this and serving our country.

Give me a shout! To jog your memories, I was the guy that went overboard with the embroidered patches on my jacket until the entire thing was covered in patches and looked like crap! I started out in the motor pool and then when Sgt Weisse left, I got moved up to the tac-site got a crash course in generators from PFC Cameron and the KATUSA's Pak, Jung, and Kim. My year in Korea at C Btry, 1/2 ADA stands out as the craziest, yet also the best of my 20 years of military service. We had some wild times but our mission there was clearly defined and we did it together with teamwork and esprit de corps, (which the rest of the army preached but did not practice) unlike any I ever experienced again in my army career. Sadly, the remainder of my army career would be throughout the evolutionary peace time army of the 1980's, with its drastic changes in political correctness, cleaning up of language and behavior to absolute ludicrous extremes, the dog eat dog, everyone for themselves mentality, the "just because you were here" awards and commendations system, the time in service automatic promotion system that guaranteed an easy climb all the way up to E5, and worst of all the monotonous, soul-sucking beauracracy of that era. I have quite a few pictures from Camp Hawkeye, the tac-site, and some of the surrounding community, (particularly some from Cameron's going away bash down at the ville!) and others of comrades whose names I have seen on the Hawk Roster web site. I am in the process of scanning them into my computer and would be happy to share these great memories of Camp Hawkeye, and to connect with anyone from that time frame even if you were there prior to June 1979, or after June 1980, because if memory serves, some of the guys, (ie; SSG Lunceford) had been there for more than one tour consecutively, and others like Sgt Green (I believe) had been there before and were back on their second go-round. Shoot me an email and let's connect!

Comments: I am a veteran of the DMZ 70-71

I came up with a hat for all the forgotten DMZ veterans. You can see it at www.militarysnafu.com

Thanks to all the veterans who worked the fence during those miserable cold Korean winters. John

I have the following medical symptoms which I believe are associated with agent orange exposure which was sprayed at the DMZ. The chemical was a mixture of the herbicides 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T and also contained dioxin generated during formulation of 2,4,5-T. While the two herbicides break down in the environment rather quickly, dioxin is a highly persistent compound that remains in the environment for decades and was still present during the time we served. I am in the process of filing a claim for service connected disability and if any of you have any of the symptoms listed above I suggest you do the same. Visit http://www.va.gov/ and do a search for agent orange for more information.

Comments: I was a Chaplain's Assistant and we serviced Camp Casey and 1 Sunday a month we serviced the DMZ Zone.

We would play cards with the Marines in the DMZ Zone to pass the time while the Chaplain conversed with other soldiers and provided counseling after services.
