Remember listening to the the invasion of Panama while we were on the DMZ?
Team Spirit in March, LFXs in April, and then getting the boot south when the COHORTs came in in May?
They made us pull another DMZ mission with 5/20! WTH?!
Spot south!!
Hussain invaded Kuwait in August!
That changed everything.
What a year that was.
Just looking to catch up with anyone who was there during that time.
I hope you all are doing well.

We were young, dumb and full of c#$ but that"s what the vill was there for. Crossing that bridge on a cinderella or overnight pass was what we lived for. We were young and belonged to the best unit on earth. I went on to finish a 22 year career and went to operation Just Cause with 3/9 inf out of fort Ord Ca. My dad passed in 2013 while living on the streets. I am just trying to learn more about him. Good or bad, I would just like to hear from people who may have known him. He was originally from Atco, New Jersey if that helps. He was also pretty young, his dob was 4/29/65.

Comments: I served my first tour of duty in Camp Humphreys, Korea from December 1980-November 1981 as a flight operations dispatcher or 71P. I am hoping to find someone to collaborate the situation I lived during my tour in Korea for my VA claim. While stationed in Korea, I lived in an all-female barrack called the “Pink Palace. “I was assigned to 271st Aviation Company (ASH) under SFC Archie Ellinger. He was a good platoon Sargent. However, during my tour, I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with another Sergeant that hated me from the moment he laid eyes on me. Simply because he felt that: “Women did not belong in the army.” Every time he could, he would always let me know his stance on women in the military. He was awful to deal with as well. I can’t recall his name, since he brought so much trauma in my life while in Korea, and made it very difficult for me during those months. In addition to that, women were being raped during that summer month in Korea. Making the tour even harder. I often had to walk home alone from the hangar because I worked in operations, and could not leave until the pilots returned from their mission. At times, it would be midnight. On the weekends, my shift began at 0600 and ended whenever they got back. The walk to the barracks was almost 30 minutes in the pitch dark. I lived in fear that the rapist, would see me and harm me. Sometimes my male friends that worked in the hangar (Gary Oden, Curtis Green, and John Barret) would wait for me and walk with me. I was so grateful, but they were not able to do that every time I had to stay and wait for the pilots to return. I wish the VA would take this as value because some things, you cannot make up. Thank you in advance for your assistance, and thanks for your service to all of you.

Comments: There is a delay with the 1 Jan 2020 start date to use PX and Commissary with MWR. Its well known the V.A. has never met a deadline yet and this is no acceptation a new mandate is in effect 1 Jan 2020 and if you have your NEW V.A. medical card that has a information strip they will work. The way to know if you have a current V.A. card is simple if it is over 3 years old its outdated! The new card shows your BRANCH and if SERVICE CONNECTED or NON SERVICE CONNECTED. The PX or Commissary has to run your strip on your card when you buy anything. The catch is some vets will have to get a free letter from the V.A. who don't get a V.A. medical card or income is to much under NON SERVE CONNECT benefits ONLY! Also to get on base you will need what ever the base wants as ID, as the program gets into gear all bases will come up with a SOP for us new PX and Commissary users.Any question contact me.

Sense being stationed at Camp Casey 1984-1985 I started coming down with illnesses while station at Camp Casey , I was sprayed on 2 times on base with I don’t know what chemical but it irritated my skin , I had problems breathing , rashes , dried out my skin , loss of energy with muscle weakness .
After leaving Camp Casey I started having anal cramping , cramping , dried skin with rash’s , muscle weakness , depression , esophagus Cancer , trouble breathing at times , unexplained mood changes , blurred vision .
If others are getting sick from being over in South Korea that was stationed at Camp Casey in the 1980’s or near by please contact me and write me out a statement explaining your symtoms of your illness or illnesses as you can use me for your claims also ,,
Some times illnesses like Cancers takes time to over take are bodies from the chemicals we were exposed to over there in Korea .
Are government shipped Agent Orange over to S. Korea in the 70’s without any ones knowledge that served for are great nation while serving there in Camp Casey or any base near the DMZ as they burried it underground , sprayed it and just dumped it any where with no paper trail to where it is now ,
So if your coming down with any illnesses or started getting sick when stationed in South Korea such as Cancer even if it’s 34 yrs or any other serious illness let’s work together to make are government pay us in what is owed for being exposed to highly toxic chemicals & other toxic chemicals that was present and is still present as soldiers are still getting sick ,
Please write to me and to let me know what’s your going threw and what happened to you when you were over there in the 1980’s

Comments: My update: Short story is tripped across this sights years ago and former Plt Ldr contacted me. So after 20 years of leaving the "Z" I finally asked for help and also applied for benefits. During the 51/2 years of waiting I learned to speak V.A. while getting help and became active with several veterans groups. As you will learn when a "final decision" a V.A. term meaning that your claim went the whole way through the V.A. system you will get "the letter" explaining what you got in benefits and backpay if any or a denial. Well I got 100% P&T (Permanent and Total) my reaction was I screamed "I TOLD YOU SO"! I felt like I was finally believed. DON'T STOP going after what you have EARNED. A new benefit if you get 100% P&T is student loan forgiveness, They forgave my $77,000 student loans but I have to pay tax's on this within three years. Any help I can give anyone let me know.
