Comments: I'm suffering from PTSD 36 years later. I was stationed at Warrior Base as a arm band M.P. escorting Scouts into and out of DMZ. I have an Injim Scout Award for completing over 20 missions. Need help confirming events. Four hour fire fight between North and South on Easter Sunday 1982 and Vise President Bush's visit to Warrior base shortly after, black boxes floating overhead and exploding, DMZ on fire around Mar or Apr 1982, tunneling from the north causing ground shaking or rumbling at night around Mar or Apr 1982, PFC White's defection and live coverage on TV of his speech after his defection, live TV coverage of his parents plea for the U.S. to rescue there son.
And any Scout that was present when I had a Grand Mal Seizure while escorting Scouts into DMZ after Vise President Bush's visit in 1982.

Comments: It has been a long time ago. I have some PTSD issues kicking up and I don't know why. With North Korea kicking up it has been more prevalent. I need answers from my fellow veterans because I don't like making things up and I might have misconstrude the actual events. Please help me! In 1982 I believe the DMZ was on fire when I was escorting the Scouts in and out of the DMZ. I Was told that it was one our own that accidentally started the fire. Second, that there was some kind of conflict on the Z around Easter Sunday of 1982. Third, The ground was shaking at nights on Warrior Base (Tent City) at nights, like tremors. Fourth, the PFC White defection really really bothers me. We saw live coverage of him in North Korea with North Korean guards on both sides as he was giving a speech as to how he felt sorry for the North Koreans, that the US shouldn't be here, that it is none of our business, speaking in a rehearsed slur. His mom and dad live on TV at a different time from ST Louis pleading for the US to get their son. After that our unit asked for volunteers for special training. I volunteered. I was ready to die to get our own back so he can stand trial in our country. Leave no man behind is what I thought. That was the last we heard, we volunteered for special training on Chejudo Island, we had fun training, but what was it for! Was my mind set wrong, this haunts me to this day!

Comments: Need proof the DMV was literally on fire after Easter in 1982, The North did indeed fire over 300 unaccounted rounds at us on Easter Sunday of 1982, The ground did shake every night due to the North's tunneling, black boxes with balloons floating overhead and exploding with propaganda, infiltrators being escorted to Camp Liberty Bell. If you can confirm any of this please contact me.

Our unit was pulling guard, but we were unsure of what we were actually guarding. I was on guard duty and there was a Korean civilian that came over a wall. Long story short, the civilian was shot, and I was told not to discuss any of the events. With everything coming out with the DMZ now, is there anyone out there that can verify my information. I am STILL trying to get VA benefits for mental health issues associated with this, but there is no documentation of it ever occurring.

As to my experience it was the best and worst I now understand why the army uses 18 year old men, when we pull patrols on the DMZ we had nothing to lose and we were well trained over and over. My time at camp Casey from dec of 1982 to Jan of 1983 no I did not get a Christmas drop, my time was fun and bonded with some great men yes the sirens at 2, 3, 4, in the morning sucked and loading up my ratt rig mounting the 60 on top standing in formation for hours and rolling out just to be told 5 miles down the road to turn around sucked also because the infantry is always ready to fight. And 3 months on the the DMZ doing patrols living in tents, pooping in a 10 man outhouse then having to burn it once a week. Running wire on the fence line, setting up a ratt rig next to TOC at warrior base, still loved it not getting recognized for the job well that's on the VA can't take away my memories. Shout out to Romans, Cordero, snedegar. Hope your safe and to all that served on the 'D' god bless

Comments: Was at camp greaves from june 1983 to june 1984.I participated in the infiltration attempt that was stopped. I still have problems with this mentally. My nerves and sleep have suffered greatly. I know its been 30 plus years but I still can't get over the fact I may have killed someone. Don't know where to turn for help. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Keep up the fire . Manchu for life.
