Comments: I was a member of the Army in the Korean Era, but spent my time 1955-1956 in Germany. I was of the last assigned WWII Germany Occupation troops in March of 1955. We spent a lot of time refurbishing US sites and facilities, and expanding USAF communication sites. I was an electrician--rifleman, and spent lot of time being targetted during NATO maueuvers while we were accomplishing some of our training e.g., pipeline and bridge projects.

I have virtually no memorabilia of the time; and the only name I can remember was my best buddy's, Ray Cheronis. I would enjoy very much hearing from anyone of that period; and also, of the history of the 79th Engineers in WWII and Vietnam. I am not sure if they were in Korea.

Best Regards
Major Bruce E. Gearhart, USAF (ret)

Comments: Ok, gentlemen, listen up:

Yesterday I greatly improved my new website and got a new webhost
just for the old 79th. Designed it, wrote it, worked the bugs out,
and got it up and running in just one day; one real "long" day. Here
is the URL. Pass it on and give me some input.

http://hhc79e.tripod.com/index.html

I thought HHC79E was a good call, and what can be better than a
tripod. Did you know that the world record sniper shot was recorded
in Afghanistan recently? By a Canadian. Over a mile-and-a-half away.
Unbelievable! But it took two shots. The first shot knocked whatever
the guy was carrying out of his hand. When he looked around, the next
shot took him down in the chest. The sniper said that he was
dissapointed with the first shot; the second one was better, but a
little to the right. Kind of like my website.

Regards,
Spec 4 Christman
