Comments: I am John Simon's brother and thought I would add the fact that our father ended up in a body cast. His bulldozer hit a mine or was sabbatoged and he was flown to a hospital in Japan. Does anyone remember him?

Comments: My Great Grandfather Alfred Handy was with this Unit and Deployed to th Pacific Theater from 26 Feb 1942 - 22 July 1945. I dont know much other than he received the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained during battle.

Comments: Im not sure how to begin. My father was Lowell Donald Royer and was in the 43rd Engineer construction and he was obsessed with photography much like myself.
i have several photo albums chock full of pictures of the 43rd Eng. unit, McClain Field, Random soldier portraits, Off duty comraderie, tanks, planes and the towns them selves.
i am going to scan them all and i would love to have names to go with the several hundred faces in my albums.
