If you remember Donnie and can tell us anything you remember about him, or if he was buried on the battlefield. He was 18 years old, and from Burlington, IA. Comments: So.
Two days after my 64th birthday, here comes
the snow. Biggest blizzard since '96, fourth
biggest in recorded New York history.
Twenty-one, maybe 22 inches. It's a holiday
morning, so I sleep in, with wife and dogs,
then get up, make a hot breakfast, and go out
to shovel snow. I do the back door first, so the
dogs have a place to conduct bidniz, then
head to the front. By the time I get our
sidewalk joined up with our neighbor's, I feel
that I should drive a golden spike or
something to commemorate the event. Then I
slog down the block to where (I think) the car
is buried, and start to dig out. Despite (or
perhaps because of) help from two
neighborhood kids, whom I pay less than the
want for more than they do (the American
way!), this takes pretty nearly all afternoon.
Knowing I'll just have it all to do again
tomorrow, but in hope that it'll be easier for
what I do today, I call it off about dusk, and go
back in the house. Fix myself a big rum toddy,
start up a big pot o' chili, feed the dogs, go
down to the study, sit down in my chair with
the dogs at my feet (sort of), look up at the
1:250,000-scale map of Northeast Korea
that's been on my wall for ten years now,
along with a photo of the gravestone, in
Kennesaw National Cemetery, of Cpl Lee H.
Phillips, USMC, MOH, Feb 3, 1930 - Nov 27,
1950, and think: God, this is easy.

Comments: If anyone can let me know anything about my late father, Don D. Kerley, who served in Korea from Jan 51 to Jan 52, I would greatly appreciate it. I just found out that he was with Fox Company, 2nd Bat., 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division while in Korea. He apparently was a basic infantryman, then truck driver and machine gunner later on. Even if you do not know or remember my father, but can inform me of campaigns, operations, etc. in which his unit participated, please drop me a line. Thank you to all who have served our country and risked their lives for her.
OUT,
David Kerley

Comments: I am looking for information about any battle(s) that took place on Vegas Reno or Carson Hills. My dad's best friend was killed 3/28/53 on one of these hills.
Information is hard to come by regarding these hills. If there is anyone out there with information would you pleae contact me. I realize it might not be easy to speak of after all these years but I need your help. Help for a former Marine who needs answers to his ghosts if there are any answers.
And for any serviceman or woman who bravely served I thankyou warm heartedly. I thank you for your unselfishness to keep all Gods children free and freedom alive. No greater gift was ever given.
