On October 27, 1950, the 452nd BG entered combat against communist forces with its B-26s, flying medium-level armed reconnaissance, interdiction bombing, and close air support sorties. The group bombed and strafed buildings, tunnels, rail lines, switching centers, bridges, vehicles, supply dumps, and airfields. In one of its most important missions, the 452nd BG supported the 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment's mass parachute drop over North Korean lines at Munsan-ni on March 23, 1951. Leading the troop carrier aircraft over the target area, the group dropped 500-pound bombs, fired rockets, and strafed the CCF front line. After the enemy launched its spring 1951 offensive, it added night missions then in early June converted solely to such operations until its inactivation on May 10, 1952.

Comments: I found a nice piece of artwork drawin by 1st Lt. Myron Miller at a southern California estate sale. It is a drawing of a B-26 on approximately 11 x 17 paper. I would attach an image of it, but it is not possible with this forum. On the lower left corner is the emblem of the 452nd Bomb Group, Korea. In the lower center is USAF and it symbol, in the lower right hand corner is the name 1st Lt. Myron Miller. The B-26 itself has red trim and a large L on the vertical stabilizer, along with the number 434556. Just behind the air force insignia on the rear body is BC-556. If anyone is interested in owning this artwork, just let me know and I will mail it to you, free. My interest in this image is due to my employment at Hughes Aircraft Company in the 70's. We had two B-26 we used for flight test bed purposes. Then I started researching the 452nd Bomb Group and thought someone might really want this. Best Regards! John (949) 702-1304

Comments: Comments: My father, Lt. Col. (Ret) James W. Pittaway was a member of the 452nd, 730 Squadron in the spring and summer of 1951. At the time he was Capt. James W. (Jim) Pittaway having arrived as a replacement pilot, he flew missions until it was discovered up the chain that he had been in the fledgeling OSI and was abruptly pulled from flight status. Of all of the aircraft he flew in WWII, Korea, and subsequently, he has a particular fondness for the A-26, and the night missions he flew. As his 90th birthday approaches, I am seeking any information possible on the A/C markings of 730 sqdrn to have applied to a model of the aircraft. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. BTW, the model samples of the A-26 and others are available at www.motionmodels.com

Comments: Hello,
Just a brief note to let you know a comrade, SSgt William G. Reese, has passed away. My father attended the group's reunions in Long Beach until they ceased holding them last year. Dad was a combat photog, an ex-Navy man WWII, and a great father. I attended two of his reunions, and so glad I had the honor of meeting so many brave men and women. My mother, Maxine, passed on in August '05. Dad was ill for a number of years, and took his final flight to heaven on June 7 '06. Just wanted his comrades to know.

Comments: I'm searching for information on my Dad's service in Korea. I know he served in a support capacity with an aerial observation unit. I think it was the Cessna. There was 51 on the unit patch with a white horse on it. I don't know much else. I am concurrently researching his WWII history with the 8th Air Force, as well. He flew as Engineer on B-17's with the 452nd Bomb Group. Any information to assist me in this endeavor would be greatly appreciated.
