Comments: Trying to find information on my Fathers service in the Army. I have pictures he took of a sign showing 511th QSMV. His name was James Lee Herfurth. He was from Newport or ft. Thomas Kentucky. His records were destroyed in a fire and the VA is asking for more information. I can only speculate his service was between 1951 and 1952.

Comments: I am looking for anyone who might have known my late father, Mr. Carl C Christianson. He passed away years ago, and he never talked with me, I am his son and all I know is from pictures and badges he left behind along with what appears to be some type of military carry bag as well as a uniform. When alive he never talked to me about this time in his life, he took me to our post office when I had to register my fooive service number, and only then briefly mentioned his time only saying I didn't want to witness things he had, trying to shield me from what he saw. I wish he had opened to me more, and now this many years later I find myself wanting to know more. ANY help would be appreciated.

Comments: I transfered from Guam with the 511th and served for a few months in this company in Pusan. I was transfered out of this company and sent to the 2nd Inf. Div, 38th inf. . They had just arrived in Korea. All of this was before the Chinise entered the war
I think we arrived in Korea in July or Aug. of 1950. It was a bad time and for me, it got a lot worse when I went to the 2nd Div.
I am having a hard time trying to remember names so I am hoping I see someone's name I can recognise.

Keywords: I had only served in the 511th on Guam for a few months. It was my first assignment after basic training in Ft. Ord ,Calif.
