Comments: I entered a message several years ago (since deleted) with some details of what I did. I included names of some of the guys in my squad; from that I received requests from grandsons of these guys asking for any info and pictures that I had. I was happy that I could
provide pictures of their grandfathers so that these
grandchildren could "see" what their progenitors were
like in 1952 in uniform in Korea. To you vets who served during the war, add some names of the guys you served with to your Korean War Project message -- you might make some grandson happy.

Comments: I recently found this site. I was in 57th Signal Company on Camp Coiner from Jan 1966 to Feb of 1967. Had a great time. Worked the Major Relay station at the comm center over the hill from Coiner at Yongsan. Fell in love with Miss Chong Ok Yu who worked the gift shop on Coiner where the barber shop and steam baths were located. Lost contact with her a year after I was in Germany. Visited Seoul two years ago and Coiner has changed dramtically. No more quanset huts. Korean nationals are doing the MP's jobs. The pedestrian gate where the "night club" was located on Coiner has been "walled up." "Big Sue's Alley" is gone as well.

I lost him when I was 10 years old and would really like some of his old war buddies to get in touch with me to tell a few stories or just recount memories of my father. Then back to Seoul for duty as Gen Maloy (Don't remember how to spell his name) sound man. Provided sound for all of the brass parties. Sat parades at 8th Army hq. Danny Kaye Christmas Show and for diplomatic events for the Ambassador (Burger was his name I think).

Company 1st sgt was Shackleford, do not remember the ole mans name.

Would like to hear from anyone that was there back then.

billeted in an unfinished school building close to an abandoned
monastery that was just beyond the palace walls....then moving to a
quonset in the battallion compound where I frequently pulled CQ duty
and had to alert everybody when "bedcheck charley" was spotted....also
the fact that it was interesting to hike in the hills that rose just outside
our fence. Would be interested to hear from anyone who worked in

Comments: CORRECTION TO PREVIOUS MESSAGE OF 2/9/05 (TYPING ERROR, SORRY).
I served in Radio Co. (located in Bupyong, between Inchon and Seoul) BETWEEN NOV. 1953 AND JAN. 1955. Would like to hear from anyone serving there at the time. Have lost contact with all but 3 of my Hut 2 buddies (Olson, Wessels, Claypool). Am considering a change of e-mail address, so please write instead through regular mail: Anthony DeBlasi, 455 Shady Nook Rd., West Newfield, ME 04095. (2/10/05)
