Comments: My father, Cpl Leslie D. Kines Jr. served with C Company, 26th Signal Construction Battalion in Korea 1951-52. He passed away in January, 2015. I'm wondering if there is anyone out there still living who served with him. He never talked about his time in Korea until he got up there in years. I have some photographs from his trunk.

Comments: My husband, Sgt. Elmer E. Gronlund, served in the 26th. I’m sorry to report that he
was killed by a drunk driver Jan 1962.
I’m writing because I’m compiling a history of His Korean days from 1952 at Camp
Gordon, GA through the armistice as a separate component of his life. I have
pictures of his friends but I have no idea who they are. I’ve divided Korea by
years. If you have any info, I’d appreciate hearing from you or anyone else who
served at that time.
He was always angry that they called it a conflict rather than a war. I’m angry
that there is no memorial for our Korean veterans. Sorry.
PS lots of pictures with guys up telephone poles

Comments: My dad commanded A and B companies in the 26th Signal Battalion in Korea in 1953-54. He stayed in the army and later commanded the battalion in the 1960s in Heilbronn Germany in 66-68. He later commanded the 7th Signal Brigade and 7th Signal command. He retired as a BG in 1980. At 83 he is still very active and plays golf everyday and still shoots in the 70's. His grandson has lots of football records as a 4 year starter at Georgia Tech and is currently waiting trying out for several NFL teams

Comments: My great uncle was Alva J Straley. Alva died in 1962 at Ft. Hood Texas while active duty. The story has become kinda sketchy through the years but he was in a truck with some other soilders when it flipped. The truck caught on fire and Alva was severely burned. He died days later because of his injuries. This comes from my grandmother, Alvas sister in law, married to Alva's brother Mack W. Straley, retired U.S. Marine Corps.

Comments: I am looking for someone who might have known my Father. His name is Richard Chamlee. He passed away 2 yrs ago and I do not have info on what Co he was with. I do know he had a very good friend named Bill Parker and a Lt Hojanack(sp?). Also there was a Chaplain that he was friends with that helped my Mother get a bus ticket when he returned state-side. All I know is that he was a line-man, and was a bit on the wild side. If anyone knows him or knows anyone who might haved served with him, please let me know. We are trying to locate something to show his service, unfortunatly any papers he had have been lost and we have been told that the records were burned. He recieved a purple heart while in Korea and I would greatly like my Mother to have something to show for this. Also we cannot have his military marker placed untill we can locate something. Thank you so very much.

Comments: Drafted Sept.11, 1952 (21st birthday). Did my basic and school at Camp Gordon Ga. Finished January 31, 1953. Shipped overseas Febuary 1953. Arrived in Korea and assigned to Company "C". I was a lineman for awhile and then ran the Company Tool Supply under the command of Lt.Bolt. During my time as lineman 3 of us were assigned to lay field wire to Radar Mountain. We started and shortly were fired upon to get our attention. We had gone about 300 yards into a minefield. Phew! we were lucky to get out of that one. I was released from Company "C" on August 18, 1953 and assigned to Hq. and Hq. Co. as Co. Clerk under Captain Charles Clark and SFC Alva J. Straley the first Sargent. One of my best buddys was Mike Corneaola (spelling ?) one of the cooks. Being Company Clerk I was one of the last guys to eat, but Mike took good care of me. When we had stake I allways got a huge one. Mike would show me two stakes, one very small and the other huge. He would say "Smitty the large one is yours, the other is the Col.'s. Heh heh I loved it. Took R and R to Japan November of 1953 with good buddy Walt Macklin. We saw Jazz at the Philharmonic at the Ernie Pyle Theatre November 13, 1953.My last few months I was transfered to the Adjutant Section at Bn.Hq. Up till the time that I left no other man had been in the outfit as long as I had. Before I left I was due for a second R and R but they wouldn't let me go. I left for home on July 12, 1954. Some of the guys I remember follow --- Bob Cook - Kay B Page - Sonny Baumann - Don Katz - George Kuhn - Jim Melason - Paul Vale - Mel Tortcris - Sam Gallegos - Charlie Young - Herb Myers - Walt Macklin - Sam Rosa - Dominic Digilio -Jim Erickson - Les Gerringer - Cecil Kanter - Bob Kuchta - Jim Melanson - Paul Connolly - Jim Huffstetler - Harvey Reizenman - Grady Rogers - Dave Seitzer - L.D.Stringfellow - Les Burton - Ken Kroll - E. Quackenbush - John Bucsak - Jim Brewer - C.D.Bertino - Ben Boelman Jr.- Bob Campbell - Wally Collett - Jim Curtis - Jim DeRosia - Nels Eclholm - Bill Erickson - Bob Kuchta - Joe V McNeel - Bob Thompson - Ed Timm - Bob Thurston - Lloyd Trennepol. I know I have missed several of the guys, this is the best I could come up with. Like to hear from you guys. Roger.
