Comments: I am the eldest son Bennie. My dad passed away November 1996 while in the Philippines (his home). His remains are interred in Lafayette California. In his niche are his medal and various patches that my saved for him from his uniforms. He never spoke much his participation in the war. I do know he was in signal corps and was among the youngest master sergeants there. I remember he had a heart and if I think he also had a bronze star. I am just trying to get more information about those years in Korea.

Comments: I am the daughter of Robert L. Watts. He was born 8/8/33 and passed away 1/30/03. He served with the airforce during the Korean war. I have his metals, and his remains. I am looking for any information about his service. I am also seeking information about his one and only brother Eugene Watts. Whom my father personally watched be blown apart by a landmine. PTSD wasn't something that was recognized in the 70's, but I can assure you that my father suffered from it SEVERELY! The poor man tried so hard to bury the demons of that war. Yet they continued to haunt him. I remember having to use a long handled broom to wake my father from sleeping, because he ALWAYS woke up swinging. He came home from Japan, but what he went through during his service NEVER left him. My heart BREAKS for ANY service man and women who came back home during that time....to a country that didn't honestly know back then quite how to help them. They and their families paid the cost for that one. I have the SCARS to prove it.

Comments: Two years to the day since I last posted anything on here and only one message since then. Would seem to me we are nearly assigned to the dust bin of history. It was a long time ago but not many days go by that I don't think of the men we lost over there. From our training company with the 101St Airborne I can count 17 men KIA and that's just the ones i know about. Men from the 35 Inf Regt., The 434 Eng Const Bn, Five men all killed May 23, 1952. Killed in their sleeping bags but never confirmed. Friends in the 32 Inf Regt. The 9Th Inf Regt. The 5Th Regt Combat Team. Also the 23 Inf Regt. The 7Th Inf Regt. The 21St Inf Regt. Last is the 17Th Regt. Something like 17% of that training company. Till a few years ago I still kept in touch with Col. Eli Bernheim our company commander a Captain at that time. He was 11Th Airborne at the battle of Manilla WW2. Great guy, tough as nails but more than fair he was always in the lead. He was in Korea after our training cycle. LOL he always said there was a General had a hard on for him. Still going at 96 so far as I know. We never knew at the time how lucky we were to get into the Signal Corps. Pretty much made for a lifetime of luck if you ask me. Some great times in Korea some kind of tough ones also. Hopefully we will get some messages from our buddies still going. Be nice if we did.
Luck and Best Wishes, Dick

Comments: Hello,

My name is Tom Corbett and I am looking for information about my father, Burton Corbett. He was from Connecticut and he entered the Army at Fort Dix in August, 1950. He was in the 101st Signal Battalion and was at Camp Gordon and Camp Stoneman and shipped out for Japan aboard the USS Gen. Miegs. Dad transferred into the 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, 3rd Platoon (he was with his brother who was in the 2nd platoon) and then the 64th Heavy Tank in the 3rd Division. If anyone knew my father and is interested, I have some questions and several pictures of his time in the military. I also want to thank all military personnel, past and present, for your sacrifices to protect our freedom.

Comments: I am still looking for and hoping that someone might have any information about my father, Jim or Jimmy Rodriguez. His actual name was Jaime Saul Rodriguez. He was from Gurabo, Puerto Rico and he served March 6, 1953 - March 5, 1956 in Korea 1953-54 and then served in the Fifth United States Army Area Reinforcement Pool until he was Honorably Discharged April 8th 1961. I know that he was Stationed at Fort Lewis in 1955 where he met my mother while she was in Tacoma visiting friends. I would like to find out anything at all about his service. He passed away in 2002 and I had always thought he served in the 101st Airborne but I also thought he was in the Second Indianhead Division. I have his patches from both divisions. I was told that he couldn't have been in the 101st because the 101st wasn't in Korea. So I'm afraid I don't understand any of it. If anyone could possibly explain it or clarify I would truly appreciate it. Thank you and God bless.

getting late and somehow we became lost. Back then
we had no communication with HDQT. It became dark and
rather taking a chance of walking the wrong way, we
decided to stay where we were and went to sleep.
During the night, little did we know that there was
an artillery , either 105's or 155's, and they
started shelling over our heads as we laid there
covering our ears. This has caused a severe hearing
loss.I am trying to find others that remember this

Comments: I just had , for the first time ever (I am 56 and my uncle is 78) had a talk with Jack Regan, originally from Mamaroneck, NY, about his Korean War service. Found out he was assigned to the 101st Signal Battalion at Chuchon between Nov 51 and Feb 53. Started out at HQ Company, main duty was jeep driver/messenger, then sent up work with 987th Field Artillery. Got reassigned back to HQ Company after getting stopped for speeding by some MPs in the middle of the night while on a jeep run - had the jeep flat out, came over the top of a hill on the road and these guys pulled him over. Really pissed him off as he was getting 6 rotation points per month while up at the 987th, got cut back to only 3 per month at HQ Company!

After his discharge, Jack got a job with NY Telephone in Westchester County, NY. He was in the same line gang as my late father, Walter Bowne, then of Ardsley, NY. My dad, and my late mother Margaret fixed up Jack with my Aunt Florence Contant. Jack and Florence just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 19th.

I am an amateur radio operator (callsign AJ1G), first licensed at age 14 in 1967,who got started in radio through the encouragement of my grandfather Arthur J Contant of Ardsley. My grandfather and father were, and Jack is, NY Tel Pioneers - all with over 30 years each with the phone company. My own telco career was limited to one summer hire period when I was in college
in 1971, doing disconnect equipment pickup and new house construction prewire out of the the Greenburgh NY garage.

My main interest in ham radio has been for the last 20 years or so, collecting, restoring and operating WW2 and later vintage military radio equipment, such as the AN/GRC-9 (Angry 9) and AN/GRC-19 (Angry 19) sets used in Korea, and later in Vietnam.
