Subject: INFORMATION ABOUT ROBERT EDWARD SCHAEFER

Comments: I would like to get into contact with anyone who may be able to discuss what they know about Robert Edward Schaefer. I have a cousin by such name missing from the Korean Conflict.
He was supposedly on a ship which was torpedoed. This is just family here say of course. He could have been doing something else and sparing his family worry such as aviation.
His mother's name was Rose and he used her last name of Schaefer. He was from Belleville Illinois and his father was Edward Hagen. I do not know if he used Edward or Robert as his first name for enlistment. I was told he used Robert but I won't go into why he did that publicly.
The MIA POW personnel have not been any help. They want information and DNA but will not answer any of my questions for rather foolish reasons. One of which is compromising the case as if it will hinder finding his remains. I can agree with privacy for family but since my son and I are the last known relatives we may have the answers they need and they may have the answers we need. One hand washes the other.
If anyone on this site has served with him or knows his whereabouts or the whereabouts of his remains or any other information only family would know I would hope they would contact me. I am not concerned with privacy for myself. I can be contacted at 618-531-6023. I can also be reached on Facebook under the account Delmar F Hagen.
Thank you in advance to anyone who may be able to help.

in command of CV31. I was AE3 but worked in parachute loft. Bon Homme left Task
Force 77 but I stayed in Japan. Joined VP46 --this time as AE3 with jump wings.
Figure that one out.
