Comments: To Jim Faltersack, Jim Gray, and any one else located in the vicinity of San Diego or Southern California.....
If you will go to the AIR & Space Museum in San Diego and request to see the "U.S. Naval Patrol Squadron Twenty-Eight (VP-28)" Book, written by James C. Miller, or look at the painting of a PB4Y-2 Privateer dropping flares over North Korea, painted by LTJG Bobby Ward, a pilot in VP-28, "Detachment ABLE" in 1951 during the Korean War, you will find the VP-28 BOOK has 445 pictures of both individuals and Crew members. There are also 120 Personal Biographies and pictures of all of our shipmates, both during their time in the squadron and after returning to civilian life, plus 20 stories written by crew members about their missions over enemy territory. All who participated helped me make this book an interesting history of our Squadron VP-28.
Regards,
Jim Miller
P.S.----- I also donated a copy of this book to the Pensacola Naval Air Station Museum.

Comments: I recently received a package from my aunt containing
navy documents, pictures and a book all pertaining to
my grandfather, Harold Eastburn. He died when my
mother was a child back in 1969. I knew nothing
about him until this afternoon. From what I gather,
he was a crew chief in this squadron. Does anyone
recognize the name or have any information?

I have located over three hundred (300) that served during this time period, and we have had six (6) major reunions since 1997, all in Vegas. Plus, we have had five (5) "Mini" reunions in different areas of the US.

Comments: Do any members of VP-28 remember the Voice CAlls "Knave 206" and "Knave 210" being used on July 29, 1951? According to the HMCS Cayuga's deck log "Knave 206" (a shore based aircraft) joined the search at 0830 for an enemy submarine being attacked by destroyers of TE 95.11 in the Yellow Sea.
At 1725 on July 29, 1951 the deck log of the HMCS Cayuga DDE-218 records that "Knave 210" has relieved "Knave 206" on station - ordered to carry out 12 mile search about datum point.
I would like to identify these aircraft and contact any crew members on board that day!
