After his death we learned that he was one of the most decorated veterans in our county (Johnston County) from the Korean War conflict and nobody knew it.

Comments: I am particularly looking for people who were with E/2/1 on the night of September 5, 1952. One Medal of Honor and two Navy Crosses that night. Easy Company was back in the rear in reserve, but got loaned to the 3rd Battalion for that night. They were sent to Bunker Hill and the Chinese hit them with 8 or 10 waves. I should have been there but had been sent back to NCO school. I want to write up what happened and see to it that the Historical Branch gets it in the record. Please contact me if you were there that night.

My Korean War history is a little shaky, but I think that he was in the landing at Inchon and fought in the battle over Seoul very early in the war.
