Comments: My father, Charles A. Bacarisse, was a Lt. with the First Marines, First Batallion, Charlie Company. After enlisting in 1950, or '51, he went OCS at Camp Pendleton, then was deployed to Korea.
He died suddenly in 1969 when I was five years old. I would like to find someone who served with him, perhaps in the engagement where he won the Bronze Star with "V" so I can find out what really happened out there.

My dad attended some reunions over the last 20 years and enjoyed them immensly. I think it renewed his pride of the USMC quite a bit. He worked as a carpenter in Detroit, had 4 boys and adopted another and even though sick his last couple of years (emphysema), he was sharp and alert till the time came.
He is interred at Arlington Cemetary.

My father never spoke much about the war while he was alive. I do know that he was in Seoul Sept/Oct of 1950. I have a newspaper clipping of him with Marine Sgt. Leon Reese holding an American flag. All his service medals were stolen after his death and no one in the family knows what happened to his service records. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

IN THE SHADOW OF GLORY is about a Marine infantry squad fighting in the outpost battles during the last half of that war.
