Comments: My father, Captain Floyd E. Ward, Air Force Reserve, served as
maintenance officer for the 6146th Air Base from approximately August
1951 to June of 1952. I have over 125 photographs he brought back,
with which I have created a slide show with background music (no
voiceover) that runs about 8.5 minutes. I would be glad to post it to
this or other websites that may be interested.
If you just want to view the pictures, I will email them to you.
I have just a few names of the people in the pictures besides my father,
but would be glad to identify as best I can.
I also have extra DVD disks of the slide show which I would be glad to
send to interested parties.

Comments: Achieved a real appreciation of the Korean Military friendship after 2 Star General (Kim or Lee/Ree) evidenced an interest in taking a wing of the South Korean Air Force to Vietnam to prove the new F-5 aircraft the base was outfitted with in 63-65. They always seemed to be a hard-working eager bunch. Created a lasting interes in the country and an understanding of why we were and are there. Visited a lot of palaces and historic spots including the location of the first encounter of U.S.military forces in South Korea. My prior experience included installing new and re-vitalized RAPCON MPN-14 radar throughtout the U.S. in the midst of the Cuban affair. Really some sweaty times- the movie Thirteen Days in October (or whatever) tells the story in a very life-like truthful manner.Followe the Pueblo event later while working for Magnavox in the Military-Industrial support program.

Keywords: After the cease fire, sometime in 1954 there were a couple of Gorella raids on K-18 and the Army had to be recalled after a couple of hours of shooting to defend the base. Anybody out there remember? I thought the war was going to start again. After the Army came back everything was quiet again. We also had South Koreans storming the gates because we had the Neutral Nations team there for awhile and it included two Communist Officers. I was in charge of base Ration breakdown at the time. It was in the Spring of 1954.

Comments: Hi here,
As you may or may not know by now: I am searching my butt off on early ROKAF things.(A/C types, quantities/unit allocations/base locations/serials/ c/n-numbers -are you still there?- from 1945 to -say- 1980. (From then on most ROKAF details are already splashed on the Net
But for reasons unfathomable Koreans themselves clamshell on info-requests on historical ROKAF specifics.
The whole thing essentially being an American thing anyway, I rather hope some of you folks can help me out on specifics of cosmic-secrets such as ROKAF war-time and post-war BirdDogs and Texans, Mustangs and Commandos. And C-47s. And the like.
