Comments: Events of eleven september made me think of war days aboard the ROCK. T division dropping the stub mast so we could clear the Carquiniz (SP) bridge. The Captain ordering us all to donate blood in SF. I refused. Great times ashore and afloat with great shipmates. If any one has heard from Palowski, Pruyn, Kovel, please let me know. Saw Don lightner and Chief warrant Sandifer on the roll of the Dead. Good Men. Lightner was a great kid from Whittier,ca. All 50 years ago.

Comments: Is there any one out there that seen the St. paul bring in a russian mine laying ship with its crew into Japan . This was during the Korean war , and early in the war. The St Paul had put a 6 1n right through the bow, they passed right by us on the dock.
I am very interested in obtaining information on the British Cruiser HMS Jamaica. When she was in the Inchon invasion Sept.1950. She shot down a north Korean plane that had bombed the U.S.S.Rochester I would like very much to get her report on this incident. Earl F.Lanning 1950 -53 . U.S.S.Rochester

Comments: I still drag out the only Scrapbook I have of "The Rock", (CA 124), having served on her from early "52 to late '56. I am curious about the other references to a CA 148. It looks like shipmate Keller (above) and I must have been on the same line handling crew when she returned to Long Beach from her winter 51/52 cruise. I still have the newspaper article and picture on that. I would also like to get some more pictures of her.

Comments: I am looking for any information about my father, A. A. Norris, who was a sailor on the USS Rochester during the Korean War. He passed away a few years ago and I just found a book that he had packed away entitled "USS Rochester Operation Korea 1950-51". he never really talked much about his service, I do know he was involved in a large battle on Christmas day. If anyone has any old stories or pictures I would love to hear from you . Thanks.

Comments: I am looking for any information someone might have on my dad. I would also like to know specifics on the "Air Medal - United States" he received other than what the books are saying. It is a royal blue ribbon with a gold orange broad stripe on each side and a narrow stripe on the ends of the same blue. The medal is a 16 point sun burst with a circle protruding out. Overlaying the circle is an eagle in flight with lightning bolts in its tallons. My dad was a mechanic on the choppers as well as other flight craft. I have been told that in the Vietnam War that the mechanics were often the door gunners. If that is true for the Korean War that would explain his reluctance to speak about it.
