Comments: By day a Chaplain, off-duty time, a watch repair man. CDR. William John Organ, ChC, USNR,
(Presbyterian), (1904 - 1981), was taught the art of repairing watches and clocks, by an old
German jeweler, in his store when Chaplin Organ was a boy. During World War II Chaplain
Organ repaired more than 3,600 watches for enlisted men ---- all free of charge. His tools and
materials in most cases were donations from watch companies and friends. Foremost among
his equipment was his de-magnetizing unit. The unit got a good workout, because most watches
brought to the Chaplain, were in need of de-magnetizing. The end result, the crew got to church
call on time, to hear of God's miracles.

Comments: I recently have come upon a lighter in a family friend's
yard. It was a lighter for the USS Los Angeles, date
unsure, located in Greenfield Missouri. On the front is a
crest, and on the back, scratched into the lid is the
initials RLP. I'm looking for any information on the
owner of this lighter, if possible, I'd like to return it
to whomever may own it....someone may be missing it. I
know it's not alot of information, but some would
help..Please?
