Comments: Looking for anyone that may have knowledge of my father's death. I was only 8 years
old, so have basically no memory of him. We were about to move to Japan when they
hit a mountain and all on board were killed. I know that there is probably no one
alive that would remember him, but perhaps? I can be reached at:donnaf002Gmail.com

Comments: I served in the 2157th and after deactivation in the 39th.
Here are two of my websites with information about the Air Rescue
in the Far East in the 50s.
The first one is more general and covers the 3rd Air Rescue
Group. Rosters, histories, and photos:
http://www.davillin.info/AirRescue.html
This one contains pages from The Scramblier, yearbook of the 3rd
ARG of that period. It includes only the pages pertaining to the
2157th, although I still have my Scramblier. You may click and
drag the pages to your desktop, open and print them.

Enjoy the memories.
Best!

Comments: I would like to hear from any one who was on a flight to Beppu to pick up airborne patients. I am sure that Capt. McCallister was the piolet on this flight. A belated thanks to you Sir. WE landed in 9 ft swells and taxied through the breakwater, loaded our patients, backed up for the take off run, installed the JATO bottles and got stuck in the mud. Capt. McCallister finally worked us loose and we began our takeoff run. We had to miss the two towers at the exit from the breakwater. He lifted us off and fired the JATOs which didn't work. He pushed the throttles forward and hung on. Thanks for a job well done.-------L. Roush

Comments: Hope I do better this time. ARS info can be obtained from the Air Rescue Association at RDB1@aol.com. I know of the yearbook you speak of. It became available while the unit was still Flight D of the 3rd ARS, shortly thereafter, the 39th ARS. I donated my yearbook to the Air Force Museum at Travis AFB some years ago. There are many names which I no longer remember. Good luck in your search.

Comments: I know that Korea was called the "forgotten war" and I want to help my departed father leave a legacy behind which will not us to forget what he and a whole lot of people from his generation did.
I am making a memory box as a Christmas present for my mother. I am attempting to include my father's Korean War service. I was able to find all of his ribbons, dog tags, wings, and a few other momentos.
Gene Meyers was stationed at Ashiya, Japan, in 1950 to 1953. My father retired after providing 20 years of faithful service in 1969. He passed away on 06-11-1999.
What I am missing is the Air Rescue Service patch. The one I am trying to find is the angel dressed in red with a ray of light coming down, holding a globe, and set on a blue field. In a scroll below is the statement, "That others may live".
My mother found what appeared to be an old yearbook which was printed up at that time and depicts the patch on the cover. She also has a coffe mug with the patch and his name.
Any assistance that you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless.
