Comments: To Whom it May Concern:
The poss name LT. JG RC Row as it reads on the R/S cockpit could prob be the name of LT JG RC Rowe. The a/c Buno is Buno 124692 an X Honduran AF F4U-5N currently flying in the US for the Collins Foundation.
In another vet data base it is also found as Lt. Richard C. Rowe, USN , VF-64 Shot down on or about 18 June 1952. Prob USS Boxer Carrier. Korea. Mosty likely MIA.
The R/S center fuselage of the F4U-5N was found in Calif c. Jan 1980. It was one of the 9 samples brought back fm the Honduran AF as boneyard parts c. Dec 1979 or so.. I follow the story of the NP F4Us of the Korean War c. 1950s & It may be poss that LT. JG Rowe also flew F4Us on Boxer during its deployment time and someone painted his name on the right side of the cockpit.of this particular aircraft. I have a picture of it (not the best quality) as the last name seems missing some letters but it may be a good connection to this fine F4U NAVY pilot!! I'd like to poss obtain a pic of him for my records. (RIP).
If you have any more questions or require further info/data to share with relatives in Fresno, Calif plz contacr me via e-mail. I'll be glad to respond.
Tks for the time & attention
Sincerely Yours,

Comments: I just had my book on F4U Corsair Operations in the Korean War published. Currently, I am writing a book on U.S. Naval Aviation in the Korean War. It will contain unit histories, comments from squadron personnel and plenty of color slides / photographs of the aircraft. If any member of VA-55 has anything that might help me, please let me know.
