Comments: I was on the second cruise to nam. 55 was already there on the CVA-14 they had A4C's then I joined them when they came home to Lemoore. I'm looking for any one aboard on the cruise aboard the USS RANGER, Does any one know how I could get a cruise book for that cruise? We lost a few pilots during that time, my Div. Off was Lt.Allen, he was shot down and didn't come back. Does any one know the differance between a sea story and fairy tale?? any responce would be appreciated. RON

Comments: I am trying to gather information about the air combat operations of USN squadrons in Korea. In case of VA-55 I am especially interested in encounters with MiG’s during the November 1950 strikes on the Yalu bridges. Official archival information briefly mentions VF-52’s victory over a MiG 18 November. VA-55’s Historical Report also mentions a MiG sighting 12 November as well the MiG attack on the air group 18 November. Any futher information on this or other MiG encounters by any sdn in Valley Forge/CVG-5 at that time, first hand or not, would be helpful.
