Comments: The 278th never went to Korea. It was stationed at Ft. Devens Mass.
A part of the unit went to Ft. Drum, N. Y. to participate in winter
maneuvers as the aggressor force against the 82nd Airborne, another part
went to Iceland as the Infantry portion of the Iceland Defense Force. The
unit mainly trained new soldiers from the northeast and sent them to Korea.
After a short period on active duty, members of the TNG Unit were sent to Korea individually. Many who returned from Korea were assigned to the 278th to help train newly inducted soldiers. I did not serve in Korea but stayed with the 278th at Ft. Drum.
