Comments: Hello, My father was Leon Overturf. He served in Korea F/2 11th 1st Div. From August 1950-June 1951. He left from San Diego.
He worked with Howizters and was a sarg. with his own squad. He was at Inchon and Chosin and onward to the summer of 1951.

I would love to share any information and/or pictures. I have been doing lots of reading on his unit and it is very interesting.

(He was also in the Solomon Islands.)

I would be an honor to communicate with others and family members of these brave heros.
Thank
You
Lorraine

Comments: My uncle, Joe R. Turner of New Mexico, was with the 11th Marine Regiment, Mike Battery, during the waning months of the Korean War. He tells of personally witnessing an aerial dogfight on our side of the front line, and apparently other Marines witnessed it, too. His version as follows:
He and a friend were on the way to the chow hall when a Mig-15 came in at very low level, overflying an anti-aircraft battery, with an F-86 in hot pursuit. The MiG pulled up, but unable to shake the F-86 and was shot down nearby.
I am not aware of any other accounts like this; most histories of the Korean War strongly imply that this kind of aerial combat occured only in "MiG Alley", although a few NK pilots did manage to defect.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can shed light on this story.

Comments: I am working with a vet rep in the SF Bay area to prove my VA claim. The VA has a long history of telling artillery vets, Army and Marine Corps, that there is no "proof" that we were in combat. For any of you trying to prove a PTSD claim, information exists, through google searches and other means, to verify combat deaths, WIA's and combat incidents. Get a good vet rep to help you. If you have PTSD, or hearing loss/tinnitus, you deserve to be compensated.
Anyone in Whiskey Battery remember the night Clyde Brown was killed at An Hoa? The date was 5/28/1970. From my vet rep: When you post incidents and show pics, PLEASE try to give the date, or at least, approx month and year! You can help a brother prove his claim.
