Comments: My Grandpa Corporal Thomas A Kane served this battalion and in echo battery and these dates. He passed away at 34 from diabetes but my dad told me there were instances of being overrun by the Chinese, incoming tanks to their position with little to no ammo and being forced to do bayonet charges and hand to hand combat. Grandpa was there the last year for 6 six months. Pretty brutal warfare and my Grandpa definitely had ptsd from what my grandmother and dad said.

If anyone can shed any insight on this deployment it would be MUCH appreciated. Our family doesn't have much background on this and I can't seem to find much info.
Thanks very much and S/F,

He worked with Howizters and was a sarg. with his own squad. He was at Inchon and Chosin and onward to the summer of 1951.
I would love to share any information and/or pictures. I have been doing lots of reading on his unit and it is very interesting.
(He was also in the Solomon Islands.)
I would be an honor to communicate with others and family members of these brave heros.

Comments: My uncle, Joe R. Turner of New Mexico, was with the 11th Marine Regiment, Mike Battery, during the waning months of the Korean War. He tells of personally witnessing an aerial dogfight on our side of the front line, and apparently other Marines witnessed it, too. His version as follows:
He and a friend were on the way to the chow hall when a Mig-15 came in at very low level, overflying an anti-aircraft battery, with an F-86 in hot pursuit. The MiG pulled up, but unable to shake the F-86 and was shot down nearby.
I am not aware of any other accounts like this; most histories of the Korean War strongly imply that this kind of aerial combat occured only in "MiG Alley", although a few NK pilots did manage to defect.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can shed light on this story.
