Comments: I am looking for information on my grandfather's service. He was a captain in the Air Force around 1951. I found a small card issued to him on Sept 14, 1951 at Itazuke AFB in Japan, stamped "CRASH PASS". What was the purpose behind this card? His name was Swinton M. Burroughs.

Comments: Hello,
I am looking for any information regarding my uncle, Richard Hinkley's service.

He was a member of the 68th Fighter Interceptor Squadron and he served in Korea. The closest date I have is 1951 for his enlistment. He said he went to Japan twice and back to Korea.

My uncle is alive and lives in New York.

Any information about a Squadron Book from 1953 or 54 would be helpful too, since he would love to have that book.

Comments: I joined the 68th in May 1949 at Ashiya AFB as a Mechanic. There were 5 F61 Black Widow fighter interceptors assinged. Radar was located in the nose of the A/C. Radar observer was located in the rear of the fuselage. These were shortly replaced by F82 Twin Mustang. The radar was located in an adapted assembly located between the two engines. The radar observer was in the right hand cockpit. The two V1710 inline engines had counter rotating props. It could carry rockets and bombs. The 68th moved to Itazuki in 1950.

Comments: Greetings! I recently bought a 1950s vintage chest of drawers and
hidden within was a picture of Sg. Ron J. Miller and his
wife/girlfriend Asaka Saruwatari- both beautiful people. Handwritten
on back is "68th Ftr intercep..." and an AFB address in San
Francisco. There are three other pictures, one of which appears to
be their son.

Did you serve with Miller? Have you any idea how to get in touch
with his family? I'd like to give them these pictures.

Best regards to all,
Erica

Their plane was shot down over Foggia, Italy and he was transported by German boxcar to Stalag Luft VII A after parachuting out of his plane at 18,000 ft. 6 of the 10 crew members made it out alive. If anyone knows anything they could tell me about him as I've been doing family history for 18 yrs and he is a missing part of it. He was my mother's brother and wanted no contact with the family or his crew once liberated. He apparently also had a man named Austin and Shannon with him. Austin escaped from the boxcar in the Alps on their way from Italy to Germany. Ellwood was in the Moosburg work camps. Thank you.

I would also like to hear from anyone who can help me to get information that could lead to a few key pieces of material that would bring great joy to my dad. I would like to restore his series of medals, some person stole them years ago, can anyone help with the forms or who to contact. Secondly is the "Year Book" for his squadron, it covered the years 1954 through 1956, this book would me ther Earth to my dad. For any takers, money is not an obstacle, within reason please, but I would even be overjoyed with a copy. Agaon if anyone can help me, I would greatly apreciate your expertise. Thank you again and the organization is a great uplift for the soldiers and families of the "forgotten war" Any one wishing to contact my dad, please use the above Email or snailmail address.
