Comments: I have pictures of several people who worked with my

father, Richard Baldwin, during his time at Miho. I

could upload them for anyone who contacts me. He

wrote names on the back of some of them. Sgt. Walmer,

Sgt. Brest, S/Sgt Burgener, T/Sgt Miller, S/Sgt

WArneke, Sgt. Scheibel, Kinsey, Shearer.

If anyone could share a story about my father, I would

appreciate it.

Comments: I was a regular Air Force radio operator, point to
point, transferred to George AFB, Victorville, CA in
August 50. The only other guy I remember now is
Darrell Durham, who I met in the barracks upon
reporting for duty. He invited me home for the
weekend, where I met his wife and family. We worked
together in the Radio room, using the old BC 610
transmitters, and halicrafter receivers. We sailed
for Japan on the USS Breckenridge, and landed at
Fukoyoka, and stayed shortly at Itizuke AB. Then we
moved to Miho, and then on to Pusan, Korea. I was a
buck sergeant at the time, and I thought that I was
the only regular AF guy in the squadron, but from the
attached notes, maybe I was wrong about that. I left
Korea on my 21st birthday. Would love to know if
anyone remembers Darrell or me from those days.

Comments: I was in the regular Air Force took my basic training. Spent one year in communications school Warren A.F.B Cheyenne Wyoming. Shipped to George A.F.B. The 452 bomb wing ( reserve ) was reactivated and shipped there to prepare to go to Korea. I went with them first to Yonago Japan I believe. Then to Miho A.F.B. We were the first Americans to occupy Miho. We then moved to K-9 A.F B. Pusan Korea. There was a squardron of P51,s when we got there. The 452nd flew B-26's
I worked in the carrier and repeater room keeping them repaired, which was next door to the switch boards. I spent many hours at night sitting at the switch board just to occupy time. It dosn't seem like there was n night went by that we didn't have to call out the emergency crew. one or some of the piolts of the the B26's couldn't get their landing gear lights to indicate if their landing gears were down so they would have to belly land on a sand strip next to the runway. They flew night missions.
