I have his 1950 yearbook and would be happy to donate it.
Please let me know where to send it.

Comments: I have no information about my father's service in the Air Force. I requested info about a year ago and have heard nothing from the government. He would have served from about 1947 to 1951. Other than that and he may have been involved in paramilitary operations during that time I haven't had another lead. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a photo of a Cpl Hillebrand in the 1950 162nd TRS year book. The squadron was redesignated 12th TRS in February 1952.
Do you know his Air Force specialty (type of work)? When was he assigned to the unit?
I may be able to find more information, such as when he went to Korea, where he was stationed, etc., if you can send more information.
I haven't found out how to reply to you using this web site. Hope this works.

Comments: My father, Richard Venturino was a Bombardier on B-26s in both WWII and Korea. After his death in 2010, I discovered a very small collection of his USAF activities. Among them was a yearbook of the 162nd Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron. I would be happy to donate it or pass it along to any individual or organization for whom it will have a special meaning.

name is Lloyd Rutlegde. He was a pilot in the 162
TACT RCN SQDN in 1950. My mothers name was Annie if
that helps. I recently came across my silver baby cup
which was engraved, From Officers and Ladies 162nd
TACT RCN SQDN. My name is Laura and I was born in
Hampton Virginia in 1950 while my dad was flying a
mission. My mom said she heard his plane fly over in
begining labor and I was born by the time he
returned. His best friend Martin was in my parents
wedding and I was told that he often baby sat when my
parents were out. I have a cloth hula doll that he
gave me. It would be great to find someone that knew
my Dad or both of my parents.

Comments: Does anyone have any information regarding the
modification of a Cessna L-19 Birddog for use with a
Hycon K-46 Aerial Night Recon Camera. It had a
controller that was used on the back of the first
seat for the second person to use. Probably used
with photo flash bombs.
Any help regarding it's use would be most appreciated!
Thanks,
Paula Field

Comments: My father, John Bacon, served in the 162nd at Taegu during the Korean War. They did night recon, mostly. He told me when the Chinese pushed through they had to burn everything and go to Japan. I believe, though I may be wrong, that they were able to return when MacArthur took Inchon. I can find out more info for you. Email me if you wish.

I recently took over as the crew chief on an A-26"C" Invader at Castle Air Museum in Atwater California. The tail number that is on it designates it as belonging to the 162nd Tac. Recon. Sq. Any information on the squadron would be great, color photos are needed to help with painting the units insignia on our air craft. Thanks a lot!
