Comments: My late father, William (Bill) Forgie served as an able seaman aboard the Cockade during the entirety of the Korean War. They were as far as I've been able to ascertain, part of the screen for the Inchon landings. He took a small part in the rescue of a downed American airman who he remembered only as Eugene. He absolutely loved his Navy years and was discharged due to a broken leg received playing football against a team of submariners.

Comments: On 12-28 I posted a NY Times article on Tin Can Sailors II relating to action by the USS Wedderburn in Korea Feb. or March 1953. The HMS Cockade was mentioned in the same article.

The British destroyer H.M.S. Cockade surprised enemy sampans between Tanchon and Yangdok destroying one large and seven small ones. The others were damaged.
