Comments: I am looking for any information, anecdotes or reminiscences of my late father, Eric David Cooley. He was a Boy Sailor on Arethusa, and served on HMS Sheffield. When he retired he was a Chief Petty officer (Tel), but that was just after Korea. He also served on the North Sea convoys, and may have been present for the Scharnhorst and D Day. I remember many photos taken from Belfast at those times, sadly all now lost.

Comments: My dad Cpl PO/X 5239 Henry Carmichael served on HMS Belfast throughout the Korean War. Oddly when I commissioned at Sandhurst in 1988 my service number was 523974 - coincidence? Dad was in X turret as a gun layer and I think postman. When Sgt Joseph James and Cpl Hamill were killed 03/03/1952 whilst operating with the US Navy and intelligence services from the LST USS Chittenden County, my dad should have gone instead of Cpl Hamill but as Tex Hamill and James were mates they swapped places. There is a plaque in the chapel on the Belfast to commemorate them. My father passed away a few years ago now but if there any comrades or family of then it would be great to hear from them

He was a Stoker and may have been a Petty Officer during his tour or made that rank on leaving (not sure). Currently I am working on a scrapbook on the trip that my husband and I just made to Britain (where I'm also from)where we saw the Belfast, etc and would love to incorporate any photos anyone may have into the book. For some reason I have none and don't think Dad has either, so would truly love to add any to my scrapbook. Dad is also alive and well and living in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada so I'm sure would love me to pass on any messages from crew mates.
