Comments: Hi
Does anyone remember my Father, Peter Clarke, a Duke of Wellington, who fought in the third Battle of the Hook in Korea,1953? (He was 19 at the time).
He returned to the UK via Gibraltar in 1954 on the SS Asturias?
Dad would be interested to contact anyone who remembers him from his service.
thanks so much
Dawn

Comments: Royal Marine Roland (called Ron sometimes) Newell served in Korea at Wonsan (I can recall him mentioning Wonsan Bay or Islands). He "volunteered" whilst stationed at Lympestone, and went via troopship and RNZN Frigates (the latter from Sri Lanka where they "missed" the troopship's departure by minuted apparently). Dad died in 1967 and I am now reasearching the family history including his war service as he was the only member of that generation in his family actually allowed to sign up-proscribed occupations. Does anyone out there have any info on the actions of his unit, or where I can find detailed info. Whilst the USMC went to great lengths to ensure his unit was included with the USMC Division when it was awarded a Presidential Citation, I cannot find anything else.

Comments: Looking for Pte. Harry Benn who is in a photo of the American Red Cross Korean War Commemrative Calendar, printed in 2000. He is with 6 other United Nation Servicemen and a Red Cross Gal in the Red Cross Club in Pusan, Korea, dated 1950. I think he was also in WWII as he has 6 ribbons on his jacket. The patch on his left shoulder looks like a Diamond with a Cross in it.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
The photo is on the BKVA web site under the "Lost Comrades" page.
Thanking you in advance.

Comments: I'm looking for any information regarding my father. He served in the Korean War in 1952 and possibly 1953 and was in the Royal Artillery - I have no other details. I have very little to go on other than his rank number and that he sailed on The Empire Windrush. Did you serve with a Leslie Williams in Korea in 1952/3? I am told by my Mother that he was known as Taffy Williams to his friends. Les was at that time living in Wolverhampton although he was originally from Wales and moved to Wolverhampton from Brecon.
If anyone here can help please drop me a line. I have some photos from his time in Korea and it's possible you may also know other people on those.

He was in the Royal Artillery and was newly married when he joined up. He now has a son and daughter. He was originally from Edinburgh and during the journey to Korea, spent time working in the kitchens helping to make bread -which he said made his hands swell up like bananas, due to the heat and the yeast! If anyone remembers him, I would love to hear from them...he moved to England and spent his life in Warwickshire...

Comments: Gentlemen, please print this list on your web sites as I am hoping that one of your veterans can shed some light on the whereabouts of these missing in action Australians. I think that some may have been POWS and died during their captivity, if any of your members can help to bring about a closure for the families, we will be eternally grateful. We/I do of course require as much detail as you can give.

Comments: I founded and am editor of RAF Gosport - HMS Siskin Association of Veterans and our intertests are comradeship and recording and publishing historical facts, especially personal stories of all conflicts since WW1.
I have long admired the American way of taking a pride in, and shouting about, the military history of the people who performed their duty during war and conflict. It is the aim that we have set out to bring to what we do.
Long may you continue with your site. I have printed off some of the personal stories and hope that you will allow us to produce some publications for our members which will publicise your cause.
Strangely enough my wife has a pen pal in the states and her husband is ex Korean war and in a bad way. Perhaps via this we can help him to come to terms with himself.
Very Best of Luck
