Comments: I have recently published EXCITEMENT! Shot At And Missed(Tate Publishing), remembrances of my brother, Sgt Ken Lonn, Mortars & Rockets Section Chief; F-2-5, 1st MarDiv. The book takes the reader on an exciting journey from hometown USA, through boot camp and a year (March 1951 - March 1952) in combat in Korea. The book recalls the good times and the not so good times, the laughs and the misery, the struggles and the accomplishments, of those Marines ... from combat veteran's first person view of the realities of war. Hill 812 is a central theme of the fighting. The book is dedicated to the men of F-2-5, as well as all those who served in that brutal war! My mission is to make people aware that the Korean War should never again be dubbed the forgotten war: Marine casualties numbered: 4,262 killed; 26,038 wounded. That's not a police action! That is WAR! Never forget!
Yes, this a book about U.S Marines, but it really is the story of all the brave young. men who fought in the Korean War; the story of their good and bad times, the misery, the struggles, the accomplishments and .... yes ... the reason that they will never be forgotten!

Comments: I would like to locate PTE J. R. Bawtry or anyone with knowledge of his POW Status as of November 17, 1951. I have a document stating his family had received a letter from him stating he was a prisoner of war. His name is on a list along with the names of my brother and nine other Navy flyers on the same plane, shot down by Soviet fighters November 6, 1951.
The document states: Attached is a Supplemental List of names in three groups; U.S. Navy personnel, U.S. Marines Corps personnel, four from Thailand and one British. These men are believed to be or have been prisoners of war held by the Communists. The source of our information is confidential except for the one British, whose family received a letter that he was a prisoner of war.
The list was presented to the communists at the sub-delegation meeting held on Item 4 of the Agenda on 3 January 1952.
Would appreciate any information regarding this subject. Thank you, Pat

He served in Korea during the war, but other than that we know little else about him. During his service he lost an eye and was very traumatized by it.
