Comments: Here in the UK no-one remembers or commemorates the
anniversay of the Korean Police Action.... my father
served with the British Army in Korea as part of the
United Nations force. In this country it is referred
to by veterans as The F orgotten War because the
names of those who died were not on any war memorials
etc. Only very recently - as late as 2011 - did
Korean Veterans take part in the Armistice Day Parade
in London. In recent times Veterans in Scotland,
mostly The Black Watch, hold a remembrance service.
Many US servicemen will probably recall Gloucester
Valley etc., but the UK don't seem to think Korea is
worthy of mention. Very sad. My dad was proud to
serve in Korea as a Tank Commander, as were his army
colleagues in their own roles. My dad was lucky
enough to come back safely, hundreds did not. I, at
least, will remember on his behalf, thereby keeping
his spirit alive. RIP.
