Comments: Been 61 years since i served on the T , which were 4 years that had an big impact on my life.
Serve in the A division the whole time with guys i remember some by first name only.
Nick, Guy, Bill Parker, Don, Clyde, best friend for 4 years Robert G. Robbie,Don Pearl bm,
Jack Pufall bm, Gary from Utah, Hahn, Ernie Simmons, several others which escape me right now.
love to hear from any that might read this.
Keywords: remember a month spent in french indo china picking up refugees. we even refueled a sea plane while in taiwan.
Bill Parker is special to me as he made it possible by interceding with the captain when my dad died in 1954, so i could get off the ship which was one day out of korea. i was transfered to a destroyer the next morning headed back to the states. he also took up a collection for me as i was broke. handed me an envelope with approx. $400. The high line was an experience i'll never forget.
remember eniwetok which was there one year and the next was no longer existent. atomic bomb test.
we were at most of the islands in the south pacific 52-55

Comments: Under some unusual circumstances, I happened upon this site last night. I was not
aware of its existence, but now I am overwhelmed, excited, and saddened all at
once. As I read through some messages that had been left in the past, I found one
from a shipmate of my father's (James E. Heaton) who was wondering about him. The
gentleman's name who left the message is Howard Hensley. Although it's been many
years since he wrote the message, I'm hoping to still be able to contact him.
They served on the USS Tolvana together in the early 50's.

I haven't seen many notes posted in the past few weeks, and I wanted you all-and as many who are interested to may try to make it, please be aware of the first-ever, USS Tolovan, AO 64, The "Leaky-T" herself will have a reunion. I called reservations today and check - there are more than 50 ex-crewmen signed up for the event. Many of us are bringing our spouses. Please try to look up more information regarding the reunion if you're interested. I hope to see as many of the crew from my brief era, 1968 - 1970.

Comments: The engineers in M, A, and B divisions were a great bunch of guys. Most were good friends. We had good leader ship. I remember a Chief Butterfield and Chief Zurrell. We had a very fa-
mous skipper,Capt John D Bulkeley, this fellow was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor by
President Roosevelt for rescuing Gen MacArthur off Corregidor with his PT boat. He was skipper of the T for a short time in 1958. He signed my
MM1/C promotion certificate. Great memories!! I did a lot of growing up on this ship. Many can
say the same thing,I'm sure. This experience
should be required, the world would be a much better place because of it.
called the "Idle Hour". As I recall, a bunch from
M div hung out there when the ship was in port.-A
fun place. I did a lot of growing up on this ship. I became a responsible human being. The
USN did this not only for me but most of us. This experience should be required, the world would be a better place..
