from any one who may have been on the ship from
commission to sometime in 1946. The Kamikaze attack
happened on my Grandfather's b'day we have never been
sure why but he received the meatball from the kamikaze
and had many of the shipmates sign it. We still have it
and would love to hear from anyone.

I ran one of the fuel tanks over in Long Beach harbor. We had to throw lots of straw into the bay to clean up the spill.

The ships personnel melted the ships bell and made award plaques which I won one in the final cerimony drawing. The ships motto "Always Ready" and AO62 are cast and attached to oak shield.

We were in Ohio visiting at the time and I retrieved my phone messages here in Florida while still in Ohio. There was a message from a shipmate but we couldn't understand the message so decided to wait till we got home and thought we could hear our answering machine better then. To make a long story short, I had erased the messages after listening to them from Ohio. Perhaps this shipmate will see this and contact him again. He would really love to hear from old buddies. Tells Navy stories every chance he gets. He was on the Taluga from 1951 to 1955.
