Unfortunately, Mr. Scott has been diagnosed with mesothelioma, a particularly devastating form of cancer whose only known cause is inhalation of asbestos fibers. We believe Mr. Scott was exposed to asbestos while on board the Navasota.

Comments: It had been a routine Pacific crossing toward our destination of Subic Bay, Phillipines. Three days before our schelduled arrival at Subic, we received word that the U.S.S. Pueblo had been captured by the North Koreans and was being held as a spy ship. Which in fact it was.
The Navasota was diverted, as was two carrier fleets, to North Korea as a show of strength.
It was the coldest spot on earth to me.
We stayed almost 6 months but the North Koreans were not intimidated. I am sure you all know the story of the U.S.S. Pueblo, but now you know that the U.S.S. Navasota played a major role in this historic event.
