Comments: my dream will be reunification of north and south that is why im not interested in joining the army although it is compulsory as a part of national service.this is why the main interests will be joining the UN and work as a peacemaker or a diplomat to reunify the country.
Although United States are a great deal of help for us, after reunification we will regain our right freedom with some power in the military point of view since it is controlled by USA. I believe it is a great deal of shame to receive a permission from USA to build missles. The reunification of koreas will cause some economic crisis now but the power will be enormous as north has an advanced technology in weapons.

Comments: Hi,
I am Inyang Jo from Seoul, Korea.
50 year ago, Korean War broke out, and my mother was born three days after that.
My grandmother told me that when she was packing to escape, my aunt was so excited
becase she thought that her family was going to picnic.
But we all know it wasn't that pleasant trip.
During that chaos, my mother was born, and my grand mother was so worried about her baby. Because nothing was unsure for her future.
Now she has a husband and two children who love her very much.
And she is a elementary school teacher.
I am her daughter who is about to graduate from university.
I bought a shirt for her birthday, it is green. Green is great on her.
I am writing to you to say how I am greatful for your being at that tragic war.
Not only my country's young men but also young men from all over the world fought for justice,
peace and liberty. Consequetly, you got hurt and even killed.
I am sure my mom has had happy life because of that sacrifice of yours.
I thank you for safety of my mom and her family.
Because of you, I am here having my mother whom I love more that anything in the world.
Therefore I want you to know that as long as Korea exists, as long as my mother lives and I live and my kids( I don't have them yet, though ) live, you can never be forgettable.
Love, Inyang Jo

someone who dictates his or her actual experiences to be recorded by someone
else. Children of persons who experienced the war are especially encouraged to
make submissions. All submissions will be donated to a Korean War research
institute. Winning submissions will be published together as a book.
Dates: June 25, 1999 to May 31, 2000. A winner will be selected on the 25th of
every month, beginning in July.
Length: 2 to 3 pages of A4 paper.
Awards: Winning submissions will be printed in either the Chosun Ilbo or the
Weekly Chosun. The submission winning the one Grand Prize of W5 million will

Comments: I'm a Korean-American who emigrated as a young child to the United States in 1976. As painful as it is for me to admit to my ignorance concerning the history of South Korea and its, at times, tumultuous relations to other nations, I am glad I stumbled onto your site. I had no knowledge of the DMZ war and exploring this site shed some light onto the many sacrifices of the U.S. Military. I'm still slowly learning about all the facets of the Korea during the conflict as well as the years preceding the war under Japanese rule. I started this research as a part of a story I was writing but am now committed to learning as much as possible about my motherland as well as the role my adopted country played in preserving its independence. I thank you for this site and the knowledge it imparts.

I'm not sure who to contact. It doesn't have to be elaborate. He has a hard time talking about his time there (he was wounded badly more than once), so I don't have a lot of details, but it changed his life and I want to honor him on this milestone birthday for defending our country. Suggestions? Thank you!
