Comments: I am really interested in any and all first hand accounts of what it was like to have served in Korea. My family served in WWI and WWII and Vietnam and many are serving today. However, I know of none who served during Korea. I am a military history enthusiast and retired from active duty military. I'm a 100% s/c disabled vet and this is how I spend my time. Thank you and take care. I would be extremely interested in hearing from any and all Korean War Veterans and especially those in or near central Arkansas.

Comments: Dear Hal,
This site is wonderful. My Dad was in the end WWII and I am in my mid 50,which means that I grew up with all of the war movies. My husband just missed the Vietman War, since we were married and expecting a child. However, I have always been drawn to the history of of WWII and Vietnam. I have watched so many movies and documentaries and have read so much, that now I am saturated. I did not know much of the Korean War, but can remember hearing bits and pieces while growing up.With all of what is going on in the news about North Korea and the build up of weapons, I started looking up info re: Korea and the DMZ, so that my 16 year old daughter could learn something about what was going on. After clicking onto your site, I was hooked. I was also in tears reading the accounts of the veterans.
Since I was a contemporary of the Vietnam war, I know how quick the American government as well as the people forget about the sacrifices our men made. Thank you for a soul stirring web site.

War is a very dark thing and to liven things up a little we thought it would be good to show pictures of vets before the war. If you have any photos you wish to share please send them to me. WE are especially looking for the ones of vets and their ladies. Also any stories some of you wish to send would be great as well. Thank you so much for everything you have done thus far. I can only imagine the War and the efforts abroad. In that respect, I feel that it would be an honor to use a motto and a company name of a unit that fought in the Korean War. Does anyone have any suggestions of medical company names and mottos. I have attempted to research so I can not only share the name, but more importantly the history.

It will give veterans a chance to express gratitude to those who (in time of war) may have come to their aid, rescue, support, or gave comfort when it was needed most. Would also like to hear from those who gave or witnessed such assistance. All wars, all branches, all specialties. Comments: What Is A Vet
Some vets bear signs of their service; a missing limb, a jagged scar, a certain look in the eye. Others may carry the evidence inside them; a pin holding a bone together, a piece of schrapnel in the leg - or perhaps another sort of inner steel: the souls ally forged in the refinery of adversity. Except in parades, however, the men and women who have kept America safe wear no badge or emblem. You can't tell a vet just by looking. What is a vet? He is the cop on the beat who spent six months is Saudi Arabia sweating two gallons a day making sure the armored personal carriers didn't run out of fuel. He is the barroom loudmouth, dumber than five wooden planks, whose overgrown frat boy behavior is outweighed a hundred times in the cosmic scales by four hours of exquisite bravery near the 38th parallel. She-or he- is the nurse who fought against futility and went to sleep sobbing every night for two solid years in Da Nang. He is the POW who went away one person and came back another-or didn't come back at all. He is the Quantico drill instructor who has never seen combat, but has saved countless lives by turning slouchy, no-account rednecks and gang members into Marines, and teaching them to watch each other's backs. He is the parade-riding Legionnaire who pins the ribbons and medals on with a prosthetic hand. He is the career quartermaster who watches the ribbons and medals pass by him. He is three anonymous heroes in The Tomb Of The Unknowns, whose presence at the Arlington National Cemetary must forever preserve the memory of all the anonymous heroes whose valor dies unrecognized with them on the battlefield or in the ocean's sunless deep. He is the old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket-palsied now and aggravatingly slow-who helped liberate a Nazi death camp and who wishes all day long that his wife were still alive to hold him when the nightmares come. He is the ordinary and yet extraordinary human being-a person who offered some of life's most vital years in the service of his country, and who sacrificed his ambitions so others would not have to sacrifice theirs. He is a soldier and a savior and a sword against the darkness, and he is nothing more than the finest, greatest testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever known. So remember, each time you see someone who has served our country, just lean over and say Thank You. That's all most people need, and in most cases it will mean more than any medals they could have been awarded or were awarded. Two little words that mean alot, "THANK YOU!" It is the soldier, not the reporter, who gives us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who gives us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedon the demonstrate. It is the soldier, who salutes the Flag, who serves beneath the Flag, and whose coffin is draped by the Flag, who allows the protester to burn the Flag.

From what my wife has told me, her parents would have lived in an village southeast of Kunsan AB during the war.

I am curious as to what their wartime experiences were. The best that I can tell, the communists only held that territory in the first few months of the war.
Despite this, I know that they inflicted much suffering during their initial
