If you have any 506th-related artifacts/momentos from the 1st BN, 506th Infantry in South Korea that you would be willing to DONATE, contact 1SG(R) John E. Foley (C Co, 1st BN, 506th, 1990-1991) at 270-798-3215 or chagress@outdrs.net . John is the Museum Technician at the Don F. Pratt Memorial Museum at Fort Campbell, and notes, “the government has a policy against loans . . . stories and pictures are even more valuable in many cases than the artifacts. Often times many of the most mundane items such as belts, pants, socks, etc. that date from that time are very valuable to the museum for making accurate displays to portray how the soldiers lived and survived.”

Comments: I was in the 43rd from October of 1992 to August of 1994 (MASH coin #977). We provided sick call, emergency care, and physicals for Camp Humphreys. Our wartime mission started as a 20some bed MASH, but by '94 it was clear that this wasn't a realistic tool in a fast-moving battlefield, so we experimented with deploying 20 person Forward Surgical Teams (FAST teams) for Team Spirit. Our FASTs used a GP-Large for treatment, a GP-Medium for housing all 20 team members, two 5-ton trucks, and a M-1008 pickup.

Can anyone remember the incident in the vill (Songjuri) when we fought those Bucketheads, and they protested outside of Camp Pelham for a week or so. The commander of 2ID came up from Casey and stopped our deployment for the feild to photograph all of Camp Pelham to distribute to the village residents. Thanks to Spc Dana Williams, and Capt. Names like Lujan, Gault, Bass, Wieczorek, Gutierrez, Jenkins, Irwin, Manuel, Teffeteller, Kimbler, and Mills, set standards that could never be equaled. Comments: I was Aco(Headhunters) medic as well as the Lab tech(If you ever came to sick call with a Burning feeling when you went to the bathroom you saw me.) it was the worse and yet best time of my life. I went back to Korea in 1997-1998. But I was stationed it Youngsan at 17th Avn Bde (in the S-3).
