All schools and Boot Leave were Cancelled.
In OGU 8/29/50-9/12/50
Reported aboard the USS Rupertus DD851 on 9/13/50
in Hunters Point. Some of my Boot Camp buddies went aboard the USS Mason DD852, USS Tucker DD875, Uss Fechteler DD870 and the rest were stationed on a small Base 10 miles from Yokosuka, Japan.
Departed San Diego 11/13/50 for the first Korean Cruise.
Looking for anyone who was in CO #169 with me.
I am a member of Tincan Sailors , USS Rupertus Association.

Comments: Boot camp San Diego Jan 1952, Ton "P" school in Norman Ok. First Company to go through Norman,when re-activated. School 1/2 day, un packed stuff for class the other half day. When we arrived they weren't ready for us , sot hey sent us on a two week leave. Coud not find typewriters or leave papers so they wrote our leave papers long hand on a shipping box. Also first company to go through "A" AD school in Norman. Again same routine, half day or school, half day of unpacking and getting ready for nest day of school.Went to C.C. Texas in fall of 1952 to ATU-700 and flew on PBM's as flight engineer for the next 3years,
