in Taegu late January 1953 and then about 3 weeks later transfered to
Andong where he was a company clerk. His name is Walter "Pete"
Atchison. If you know him or served with him, he would love to visit.
He and I sit and talk about his "escapades" all the time.

Comments: I was a rifleman in the 2nd Inf. Division in a few days of reserved in the Inje Valley early summer 1951. Heavy rains blocked the rivers to our rear and supplies were coming in by air drop from C-119s. We had at least one artillery battalion if not more in the valley. Early one morning a flight of two C-119s started over the valley from the south. Just as they were overhead the artillery unit started a barrage. One shell his the lower rear C-19 in the tail section. It began to turn right and up and hit the other plane. Both of them crashed a couple of miles to our north-west. We were on the road heading north out of the valley to assist the French Battalion attached to our Regiment. I was at the end of the column when it stopped. I was looking back into the valley and saw the C-119s come in over the valley and run into the artillery fire. I met a few other veterns of our battalion at reunions that also still remembered the incident. We saw parachutes spill out of the lower plane. However, months later I read something that reported all the crewmembers were lost. I came home off of the Punch Bowl position the last day of July and retired from the Army in Sept 1967 at Fort Knox at the age of 35 (I went in at age 15 in June 1947).

Comments: My father was a member of the 425th (Four Deuce Five) during 1951-1952. He was assigned to Group Headquarters, Personnel Division, Taegu,Korea. I am sitting here with most of the pictures that were taken during his time in Korea as well as over 50 year old newsletters, Traffic Talk. I am a week away from finishing the first draft of the manuscript on the unit based on information from the newsletters. I think it is time that more information about the Korean War gets out to the public.
Thanks for a great website. I will be registering as a member here shortly.
Thanks.

Comments: I am looking for anyone in this squadron who remembers my uncle, Humberto Arreola and Francisco Javier Arreola. My uncle Humberto was lost over the sea of Japan in 1955. He and my uncle Frank were radio men. They were from El Paso, TX. I only know that Humberto was lost over the sea of Japan in a C-119 Boxcar. They were enroute from Korea. He was 19 years old. I cannot find either name on the roster. Any ideas why that would happen? K. Jordan

Comments: For those who may remember Cpl. Bill Harrington in country 1950-1952. Bill passed away December 1979 from a massive heart attack. He has a place of honor at Andersonville Cemetary for those who would like to visit. He never would talk about Korea except to name places he had been. I think he wanted to forget much of what happened there.
I followed his footsteps when I was in country in 1980-81 while stationed in Pohang. I wish he could have seen the pictures I took of the places he told me about.
