around the outfit. Most of it was in the field. So I didn't get know many of the guys in my
outfit. But did a lot of work between the RTO in Soeul and the Peace Train. Also mostly
in the field. Would like to hear from some of the guys that were there during that period

Comments: My name is bob swift, my dad serd in the train sevice in Korea from 51 To 53. I don't k.ow what battalion he was in. His. name was Lyle D Swift, prvt. 1st class. I know he transported supplies, arms, ammo, & soldiers both fresh and fallen. I was told this from my older cousins. He didn't tell me a lot about what he did over there. I'm trying to gather as much info as I can collect. I understand, if you choose not to respond. Nonetheless, I thankyou for doing what you did. If I could shake your hand, and thankyou in person, it would be my honor. Once again, I thankyou. Sincerly, Bob Swift.

Alas, like many of our heroes of that era, my pop never spoke of his service both in korea and in WW2. I would just like to be directed towards any sources of information i can obtain. Ideally, just like what i have been able to gathet from here! To all who served, THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!

Comments: I served with the Army MPs in Tokyo, Japan, from 1946 to early 1948, and used the
white-striped For Allied Personnel Only cars for rail transportation. I recently learned
that in August of 1948 SCAP issued a memo regarding train travel by Allied personnel,
including the use of Yellow Ball rail cars attached to inter-urban trains. I never heard
the term Yellow Ball while I was in Japan, and would like to know if your archives would
be able to shed any light on such rail cars in Japan, including when the designation
came into use.

Comments: Can any of you refer me to a good source of information about the construction of The Freedom Gate bridge? My father was a Lt assigned to the HQ Company for the 3 TMRS from late 51 until shortly before the war ended.
I have a photo he shot of the first locomotive across the bridge from the 714th TROB and what appears to be a dedication of the bridge and would like any information regarding this event.
I think dad may have mislabeled the photo as "shoe fly bridge" but he says this was built rapidly to facilitate the exchange of prisoners.

He said his commander was a Colonel James W Sandridge and that when it was time for him to be sent home due to his service in the earlier war he had to go to pusan to try and get a replacement officer to take his position. My father said he was then replaced by a Major Flint.

Does anyone know either of these two officers?

Comments: The National Railroad Museum, located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, has in its collection of rolling stock a Pershing-class steam locomotive currently numbered 101, but was numbered in the past 765 and 6779. Some of you may be familiar with this particular locomotive as it was outshopped in Pusan by members of the 765th Railway Shop Battalion and renumbered to honor their unit. Our museum plans to honor members of the Military Railway Service who served in Korea with an exhibit detailing the experiences of soldiers serving in the MRS as well as a complete history of this particular Pershing locomotive. If anybody has knowledge of this locomotive or served with the 765th and helped restore the locomotive, I'd be very interested in hearing from you. Any type of information relating to its history or the history of the unit and members is welcome as well as any photographs and documents. Please feel free to contact me either by telephone or via e-mail. Thank you to all of you who served, and know that you are not forgotten.
