Comments: I'm looking for information about my father's service in Korea and people my father may have served with while there. Roy E. Friend was assigned to MGCIS-3 and in Korea from April of 1952 until January of 1953. During his tour he was assigned to a detachment of Marines to operate height finding radar on the Island of Cho-Do. This detachment was working with the 5th Air Force and only supplied and operated the height finding radar while the Air Force operated the remainder of the radar.

Comments: My father served in Korea and I believe he was with
this unit. I have a picture of him underneath a sign
that says MGCIS3 GUARD. I know he served alongside a
man named Bo Shipp. I'm just trying to glean ANY
information I can about his fellow Marines and
squadron. Dad didn't talk about Korea a lot except to
say that he repaired telephone poles and once went
turkey hunting with a general. Dad passed away on
January 30, 1998, and now that his grandchildren and
grand-nieces and nephews are getting older and doing
school projects about the military, I would like to
know more information, if possible. Thanks!
